I am sorry that you where offended. It's wrong and not okay, but it's a sadly popular opinion I am coming across. It's wrong on so many levels that I shouldn't even begin to explain, but at the very least you now know who to avoid in conversation and that you will be disrespected in their presence.

Having to explain rape culture to a guy.... He's upset women all see him as a potential rapist and i said "can you blame us? rape culture teaches us to not get raped and not men to not rape. we can never tell who is an aggressor and who is not."

I think it upsets me more because the commenter (the status poster is a friend of mine, whom I avoid political subjects with) is probably somewhere between 21 and 24 (or younger) and their location is Canada...I'm assuming for school.

the light went out in the kitchen right when I started the dishes. We have no lightbulbs and it's raining, so I washed them by lantern light. Stores should deliver lightbulbs.

I think you did a great job summarizing, though if 'every woman' sees this guy as a potential rapist, I feel like there's a lot more going on with him personally than the way women are socialized to address the threat of rape.

Ok seriously guys, how hard is it to understand that I don't want to room with you at cons? I always clearly state "girls only" when I seek con roommates. That is a sign you should just avoid responding at all. Don't call me sexist or a wimp (that last one came from a girl) for having this rule. Besides, my parents would never let me room with a guy. Even if I ever were to do so, it would have be a close friend, not a stranger.

Idk what's happened to him to get him to feel that way but all I know is that tonight I walked home pen clenched firmly in hand because it was super dark and my area is very woodsy. Is that fear of being jumped or what?

I room with my guy friends at cons, but I only started to after I had known them for a few years. And I prefer girls only rooms, since its just easier when comes to changing/sharing a bathroom/accidental flashing.

People like to blame others for their own perceived issues. My mother and I had to go on unemployment. My mother has worked since she was right out of high school and she's in her 60's now. She's voted in every election.Worked a high profile and high paying job for General Motors. Was laid off and struggled to find work at a stable position afterwords. The job she lost that she filed for unemployment with was run by a con-artist of a man with several million dollar sexual harassment suits against him from previous female employees. The man made millions running a shady business and harassed his employees for everything from the trivial to who they voted for (he was conservative to an obsessive point). I can tell you why she was excited about the weekend, and it wasn't because she waiting for those super duper hardworking conservative folks to pay for the day she went on unemployment.

People just need to respect your rules or get their own rooms. End of story. It doesn't matter why you chose to enforce specific rules all that matters is this is your room and your arrangement. They are GUESTS in your room and it's a privilege not a right for them to be there. When I am sharing rooms as a guest to someone I treat them as my HOST and respect their wishes.

I've bunked with male/females before and didn't really have an issue. To be fair they where all friends of Brando's since like...Middle School and I never felt uncomfortable with them. Brando and I where the first up really early because we went to the hotel pool each morning and everyone was still asleep. By the time we got back Moosies girlfriend was already dressed and stuff because she does her hair while others are asleep. So Boyfriend and I showered and by the time we where dressed Moosie was usually awake and took his shower. At that point the three other guys where Brando's brother and two other male friends. The four of us, that is; Brando, myself, Moosie, and Frizzies his girlfriend, left the hotel room before the other three guys even got up in the morning.

But again these are people that Brando has known for a vast majority of his life and therefore I feel comfortable with.

The hardest part is the bathroom. I don't care if someone comes in and uses the toilet/brushes their teeth when I'm showering (as long as the curtain isn't see thru) but not a lot of people feel that way - especially guys when it's girls barging in.

I actually plan my cosplays so I can get "more or less dressed" and then do my hair/make up on my bed, so I don't hog the bathroom. (The best is Lolita- throw on my petti and a cami I'm practically dressed anyway.)

I don't allow anyone in the bathroom if I'm showering, a girl I dated was upset I didn't want to shower with her.

My Mom and I share the bathroom all the time, as do my boyfriend and I. If one of us really has to go while the others in the shower or one's in the bathroom but the other has to grab something like lotion or nail clippers, fine, and we'll usually go in and out or share the room when getting ready for the day (ie I'll be brushing my teeth while he shaves, I'm doing makeup and he's putting in contacts at the same time, etc.). Only thing I'm not so okay with is with non-intimate opposite sexes.

I shower with Boyfriend on the weekends because having him scrub my back is the besssttt
