I had to leave work after only 45 minutes this morning. In the almost 2 full months since I started working there, I've only taken off one half day for a doctor's appointment (with two week's advanced notice) yet I still feel bad about it. I had my suspicions that I was having allergic reactions to whatever chemicals are used to clean our aprons, so I got permission to take home an apron to wash it myself and see if it helped. It did! I got through an entire week with no itchy, red rash. Last Friday, when the girl asked for my apron like they do every week, I wasn't paying attention and gave it to her. I took another one home to wash but it didn't get as thoroughly washed and within 20 minutes my chest started feeling tight and another 10 my chest was worse and my throat had started to feel strange. This is like when I figured out I was allergic to chemical sunscreens. I only realized that a burning rash was not normal when starting a new product when I used a moisturizer with no sunscreen for the first time. A few weeks later I started a sensitive skin moisturizer with spf (because sunscreen's important) and two days' use caused a 2 week rash where before it would last only a few days. For whatever reason, it's like I can develop a tolerance but if I avoid the allergen for any length of time, even a little exposure becomes a much bigger deal.

I recently re-installed Windows Vista on my mother's laptop because her laptop had issues booting up. Now a couple of days later...

She's doing something on her laptop, I don't know what. Then she tells me there's this "Windows update" on her computer, and asked me if she should install it or whatever. I've been really annoyed by her constant computer questions lately that I didn't bother to look at what was on her screen and just said, "Yes." Since I just recently re-installed Vista, I just thought it was one of the bajillion updates she needed and thought nothing of it.

Well, that was a mistake. Whatever the heck she installed included the ridiculously annoying browser hijacker, Conduit. I've always had trouble figuring out how to get rid of the stupid thing as the internet never seems to have a real solution and it bogs everything down so horribly. I think I pinpointed and deleted the majority of the registry files.

I was very visibly annoyed and my mom said, "Well, you should teach me." But, to me, it just seems like one of those common sense things that you can't really teach. o_o;

My mom and I have a long history of going back and forth on similar matters.
She used to play those shady 'free online poker' games, she'd find websites just by searching on Yahoo and pick whatever came first.

I can't count the number of times she had to have a Microsoft rep go in and remotely remove all the shit from her computer. Sometimes it was trojans, sometimes we'd find graphic porno installed, it was a mess on an almost constant basis. She just would NOT listen to me telling her not to download shit and explaining that Limewire wasn't a reliable source...

She'd try to get me to teach her what stuff I was doing, but whenever I explained anything to her it just flew over her head. I think the generation gap is too big for me to really be able to explain it. I grew up when home computers where just getting 'big' and suddenly my homework HAD to be typed, not handwritten. My mother still thinks that technology that was up-and-coming 10 years ago is the same as the technology coming out today.

When I mention something should be replaced or fixed she doesn't get WHY. So then I have to explain WHY but to her it sounds like a shady sales pitch someone from Best Buy uses on broke college kids.

My parents are the same. They grew up in the 60's and tech-wise they're stuck in the early 90's (and it sure didn't bode well for me growing up. I was stuck using Windows 98 until the end of 2007, and that was only because a power surge completely fried the computer and Dad had no choice but to get a new one that had "this useless newfangled shit" like USB ports and CD burners...). Seriously, I had to show my Dad over a DOZEN times how to copy and paste. A DOZEN TIMES. AND HE STILL ASKS ME TO HELP HIM EVERY THREE OR FOUR TIMES.

My mom manages basic stuff well, but always bragged that she was the best out of her office at using computers. So when something went wrong and I had to help she was really pissed off if I told her to stop doing something (like going to shady ass websites) that was harmful to her computer.

Brandon fixed her up a laptop from work and sent it out to her about a month or two ago, he loaded it up with everything she needed and explained it to her. She had no idea what the icon for her antivirus was and never used it.

It isn't so bad now. But when I lived with her it was a constant thing of something going wrong no matter what I did and I got blamed for it going wrong :[

I was trying to record voice work with the blue snowball, yesterday night. I didn't realize how horrible the soundcard was, the laptop's Reatek sound card output. so I couldn't monitor playback from the laptop, I was going on, trying to figure out why the microphone was sounding very tinny and reverb. This morning I plugged it into my desktop and playback was clean so the microphones not the problem, tashiba laptop realtek sound cards are bad .

I feel like the world has it in for me. Everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. The only thing that would make this worse is if I got kicked out from my house and I develop cancer.

It was alright the other times the move has been pushed back, but this time I'm half packed. Living in cardboard box limbo isn't how I thought I'd be spending the month.

Once again, yelled at for not having a job. Compared to a deadbeat whose got "two jobs" but no money, no place of his own, and no car.

Is it REALLY my fault that the most basic, mindless jobs expect 2 years experience and the applications are online, so I have NOTHING to show for my research? I can't help it if my high school didn't tell us how to fill out an application or told us how to get a job/exist in the world outside of school. They don't plan for someone not going to college. If you aren't going to college, they couldn't help you.

The same people yelling at me have called me worthless, told me that no wants me and that they don't care. I'm pretty sure I could just disappear and they wouldn't care in the least. :/ You shouldn't yell at someone who had to deal with suicidal thoughts as a child (all because HEY KID WE HATE YOU AND YOU'RE USELESS). My parents never once taught what to do in the real world and now I'm getting shit for their bad parenting and the fact that getting a job is difficult when you have nothing.

Aren't parents just BRILLIANT?

I know how you feel. The ONLY jobs that I have found recently want buttloads of experience or I am just plain not qualified for. People harass me all the time and say "Any job is better than no job!" But it's really NOT that easy.
