Umbreon Cosplay
![]() I'm pretty sure most people know what Umbreon looks like but there's a reference pic just in case. ![]() Click for nice Resolution of Cosplay Cosplay.com Costume ![]() She loves the attention with comes with wearing the costume. She can see, but I'd like to make it easier for her. Sometimes she has to tilt her head to a weird angle to see a certain direction. Also, do the eyes look okay? I used a black see through material and painted over them in 3-D paint, leaving the pupil so she can see. The tail is also a bit heavy. She can lift it when she is excited fine, but when she is content it really droops. When she is content she still carries her tail up, but the tail weighs a bit too much. We used cotton to fill it and make it the right shape. It is still a bit lumpy...but don't know what to do about it. Any other things you see wrong with it? I'm actually quite pleased. |

If you can get ahold of some foam beads(the really small kind) you could replace the cotton in the tail. It would definately cut down on the weight, though I'm not sure where you could get foam beads. Maybe a local hobby store? If not, I'm sure that google could offer some retailers.
By the way, that is an amazing umbreon cosplay! You have some fantastic sewing skills! ![]()

For the tail you could try those quaver shaped things you get in parcels to protect items or polystyrene balls (those tiny ones that get everywhere!), they're pretty light and might do the trick. Could make the tail a bit lumpy but you could always make the lining a little thicker to smooth it out as you'll have taken a lot of weight out of it anyways.
The eyes, the only solution I can think of is use a plastic material with holes in it and print or paint carefully, so that you don't fill too many holes in, the eye you want on it. Caninehybrid on youtube uses this method on her fursuits, take a look if that will help, I think it is the Leafeon cosplay that she does this with then you'll know what the hell I'm on about xD It might work though I have never seen a cosplay on a dog before so I have no idea lol

I did not expect to see that on a dog. I also think the polystyrene is worth a shot, like the kind they fill beanbag chairs with. It looks fantastic, though. Your dog is awesome.

That is sooo adorable :3 I wish my pets had one though I don't think they would be quite as obedient. xD
For the tail I'd suggest fiberfill. It's very light and you can pull it apart to make it take up more area. I use it for stuffing amigurumis. Closest bag has the brand Poly-fil, but whatever your local sewing/craft store has would work. EDIT: For all the people who keep suggesting beans, those will still be a little heavy for its tail ![]() Last edited by Falclon : 01-22-2012 at 01:17 PM. |

I saw this a while back on here and LOVED it! I would love to see video of it in action =)
As for the tail, I think the beads suggestion is a good one =) Keep up the great work!

Thanks! ^_^
Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I'll check up up on the fiberfill and beads for the tail. =) I'll also go check out youtube sometime and see how Caninehybrid makes the eyes. =) |

I know this might sound silly, but have you tried small balloons with a paper casing?
If possible, you could stuff the tail with something like card stock paper cut and rolled to make a sort of shell inside the tail and inflate tiny balloons to keep it supported... Like those little water balloons. And if the paper is tough enough you might not even the need the balloons! Should be extra light weight. I did something like this for a school play a whiiiiile ago, so I can't exactly remember the exact way to do it but I'm sure after a few min of tinkering with it you could get it to work. n_n' |

At first I just thought someone had the best fursuit ever made. But your dog is a huge champ for doing this and being a good sport!
Maybe he'd complain if he didn't get every single person at the con to pet him and give him attention. Any dog would love that.If nothing else, you can have the most patience in the world and break up blocks of polystyrene with your fingers and stuff the tail with the little balls that its made of. You could get blocks of it for free from any big-box store if you ask the stock folks nicely. Never hurts to be thrifty and help the environment simultaneously! |
