Crinoline, hoop skirt

I want to make a hoop skirt which will probably take around 20 yards of hoop boning. It will be showing so it can;t be made ofa substitute material. The cheapest I found for a 3/4 inch wide boning was $75 for a 25 yard roll. Please Halp!

EDIT: better info

Check this out. Thin metal strapping, which should just about do you. The narrower stuff is much cheaper; I've seen rolls like that in the plumbing sections of all the big-box hardware stores around here.

This site might help in the construction of your hoop.

Also this site may still sell kits and patterns or just patterns.

I know some sutler sell both cloth covered and caged crinolines of all sorts. Quality varies greatly.
