Slight variations in the colors of your clothes depends on which team you decide to join up with, but judging from your avatar pic, it seems your rooting for RED.
. From all of my research, I've finally nailed it down to a leather Australian slouch hat, certainly not a fedora. It could be called a few different things like an Australian outback/safari hat. My hat that I just recently ordered was the closest thing to the original that I've found so far, and here's where I got it --> http://www.pacificnorthwestoutfitter...Leather/Detail
Leather is legit and tough as hell.
. If you're going on RED team, I suggest slightly faded grey pants (not cargo, no pleats, just flat-front straight leg). If for BLU, then slightly faded dark blue pants.
. I've found a shooting vest to have the closest shape and colors to the original. Problem with heavy fabric shooting vests is that they are very expensive. I'm talkin' $130 to well over $200. If money is no object for you
, then you will find something that is close enough to pull off, but, if you want your cosplay to be spot on, it'd be best to have your own custom made. That way you get to choose the materials (how cool, wrinkle resistant, or whatever you want it to be) and it will fit you perfectly without any alterations. Here's what a decent shooting vest looks like, just to cringe at the prices --> http://www.gandermountain.com/modper...D=GSHOP_420791
As for first timer cosplay tips, mine is as follows:
Stay in character. Bitches love a dude in character. But when being a curmudgeon-y old fart is uncalled for, be really friendly with your fellow cosplayers. Get everyone's emails that you'd like to keep in touch with.
Go in a group. You'll get so much more attention as a group and it feels awesome.
Have as much fun as possible without wearing yourself ragged, ff you'll be there for more than one day, at least. Party hard, my friend, but you'll want to party tomorrow too, right? So save some energy!
Good luck to you.
