Generation gaps

Are you having a generation gap with someone?

I'm having a very big one with my workmates, I'm one of the few young employees in my work, almost all my workmates double my age and don't understand my way of thinking, my hobbies, my energies, what makes me smile, and they sometimes when I want to do something (even if it's work) that is fun for me they say "No, don't complicate yourself, do it this way!" or "Look out or you'll hurt yourself" like feeling lazyness about me. All of them could be my fathers.

And when I tell them temr like anime, manga, cosplay they say "What? Those "chinese" cartoons?"

So, what's your story?

I'm a teacher and i'm 23. I work in a small school where practically everyone else is married with kids. Many are old enough to be my mother and have kids my age, one lovely woman is old enough to be my gran. I really like the people I work with but it hard I can't share any of my interests and they do see me as the baby. And now we have another Amanda starting at the school my new name is baby Amanda so they can distinguish us. I wouldn't ever mention anime or cosplay at work because they just wouldn't have a clue.

It also kinda sucks that none of my friends my age are into anything like that either. Heres to making likeminded similar age friends at the next con.

At work, yep. Which causes problems when I'm the 21 year old teaching a 30 something how things are. They really don't like someone that young telling them what they're doing wrong.
