I have to agree. Stance does make a big difference. I have the problem of having both somewhat large chest (at least im my mind it is) and a bubble butt T-T. The only help is that I have unusually broad shoulders.
It makes cross cosplaying very hard, but I usually get away with it because of my stance.
Hips and shoulders forward, even balance. It's also my natural stance so (to my embarrassment) I am sometimes called 'Sir' in my daily attire.

Okay. So I have my pants for Canada and while the jacket will thankfully cover over my butt, I'm not sure how much it will hide my hips (and I've always been told I have good child-bearing hips.. so you can probably imagine.. ^^')

I found that standing with my legs a bit further apart seemed to take away from how obnoxiously obvious my hips were, though that might've been just in my imagination. So I just want some feedback on it [can't take pictures as my digital camera isn't working].

Is this all in my head and do I just look like an idiot, or does this stance change really actually help? XD

** I'm sorry if this has already been answered, but I can't read 18 pages and stay focused.. haha.. sooo..

Well, in order to answer the question properly, a picture would probably be best. However, yes this question HAS been answered a few pages back. Stance helps with the illusion to looking more mannish.

I'm doing a cosplay where I'm wearing a form-fitting bodysuit type thing. I'm going to buy slimming shorts, but I was thinking to also pad out my waist and maybe even my calves. What should I use for this?
Thanks.

Well, it might help to know what character it is plus your body shape. But to use as padding, it depends on how thick you want it to go. If I knew what you were going for I might be able to help better.

Character is Jealous from Death Note.
I'm pretty curvy unfortunately. I'm at school right now but maybe when I'm home I'll take a pic.

I'd definitely go with padding, but something kinda stiff?

And I know what you're saying. xD
I'm in school too?

eh, I'm not sure about bubble wrap but maybe the towels or.....that green foam stuff that comes in squares you can get at JoAnn's or something. I have no idea the name of it but I used it for my Zack belt the first time and it made my waist thicker.

It depends on the level of realism you want to achieve.

Batting (pillow stuffing) is easy to move while wearing (you sew it between two layers of fabric) - however, it won't look really realistic.

Foam will limit your mobility to some degree.

Bubble wrap will keep popping.

A towel has the same issues as batting, but it will also be heavier.

All methods need to be secured so that they don't move around.

The most realistic would be having a latex body-piece. However, this is costly and a skilled task. You would be able to move well, and it would have the right firmness to look like real skin underneath.

Izuma, I think you need to be a bit more detailed as to I'm confused about what you mean by 'slim down'. Do you mean to make yourself less curvy? Or is it to actually SLIM your middle down?

Something I've done, that works for me, is to wear one of those back-brace-exercise belts, made out of a rubberized material. I wear it down low, and pull it as tight as I can. I can usually get an inch or so "off" that way, but it does make it a bit hard to sit down while wearing it.

i just love to cross play, but there are some lady parts that tend to get in the way if you know what i mean, i have tried everything ducttapping them down etc. but alas no cake. lol i figured layering was the only way to hide them.
