Cosplay on a budget (for all of us)

Let's face it: Some of us are pressed for money, or are just frugal. This thread is for all of you who fall in either of those categories.

Anyway, I have short-ish black hair, and need a good costume that can be easily done/cheap, or both. What ideas do you have? (A pic of me is on my profile)

A lot of the costumes in the 'Simple Costume' thread are on the cheaper side since they require less embellishments and other such things that tend to raise the price (http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=243782).

Uhh, the only other thing I can suggest is maybe investing in a basic school boy outfit? A lot of characters like Yuji from Shakugan no Shana have just the basic uniform. It's a bit boring by yourself, but if you have a female friend who can cosplay a character from the same series and you get yourself different wigs you can probably re-used it quite a lot.

Hirano Kohta or Takashi Komuro from High School of the Dead? Simple outfits, and the props are pretty simple, too.

There are tons of characters that can be made via "closet cosplay" or cheap supplies from Goodwill, FISH ech. Many only require simple clothing items which may be easier to find in places like this such as most characters from South Park, L, Quote ect.
Also many cheap simple props and armor can be made out of craft foam and resin which is inexpensive and easy to use. This opens up your options even more!
It is recommended to save up for a sewing maching and then your options are endless and making your own costumes is much more rewarding since you can customize more than buying a cheap item!
