Ottawa Comiccon

Hey everyone! I just got news that there will be a new convention in the nation's capital!

Ottawa Comiccon will be happening May 12 & 13 at the CE centre in Ottawa (it's the brand new convention centre really close to the MacDonald-Cartier International Airport).

There's not a whole lot of info out right now, but you can check out the Facebook page and the official webpage (but there's nothing on it just yet).

Does this interest anyone? I'm kind of sketchy about it, but only because it would be the inaugural year. I'd love to go though.

I'm looking forward to my first Comic Con.
I hope to get a artist alley table for this years. I got a lot of leftover from Otakuthon last years.

Its done by the same crew that puts on the montreal comiccon, that much I know(so for anyone having the first year jitters its just a con thats expanded into ottawa). I'll probably be attending as I'll be potentially manning a booth. If not I'm not sure if I will be going, alot of emphasis on sci-fi and a rather steep price.

For the sci-fi fans it will be nice to have a purely sci-fi/fantasy con locally. I'm also curious as to how they are going to use the CE Centres space, given how oddly set up it is (for conventions anyways..they have no medium size rooms).

I just asked my sis and she said I could take my Nephew with me if I go. He`s only 6 and he loves super heroes and Star Wars, so I think he`ll have fun for his first time con. I`ll get him to wear his Ironman Costume. I hope a lot of people cosplay.

I think it's really important to point out that this isn't an official Comic Con like the one in San Diego. That one is put on my Wizard Magazine, this one is being put on by... people? Regular people who only have one event under their belt (as far as I'm aware). So, it'll probably be entertaining, but don't expect too much. That doesn't mean I'm saying it'll be bad, but... let's be realistic.

It's the same organizers as Montreal's Comiccon which from what I've heard is pretty successful and is doing well? From what I've heard from Comiccon Montreal attendees.
So far they have the Back To The Future car is going to be there and a few guests announced. There will be a small announcement tonight they say. So I'm hoping for more guests.
So they're not jjust random, regular people. They do know how to run a convention.

Edit:
omg xD I just looked at the montreal comic con website, I see they're bringing William Shatner xD He'd be funny to listen to I'm sure. lucky Montreal.

Well, one annual event - Montreal Comic-Con has been running since 2006, but it only got REALLY big after they got some cool headlining guests last year. Every convention has to start somewhere. It's also not the first convention to borrow the "Comic-Con" name; there are two Toronto Comic-Cons this year: the one by Wizard World and the one by Hobbystar. I'm pretty sure that these guys actually work at/own/are somehow affiliated with a comic book store.

Is anyone going to cosplay? And if so, who are you cosplaying as?
I'm going to try to put together a new cosplay (but I don't want to say who just yet in case it crashes and burns--I really wish I had more time =/). And if that doesn't work out then I'm going to go as the Pyro from TF2.

My cosplay is going to be Simon from Prozzak since I got a better new wig.
Sadly, once again I don't have Milo T_T
