This is something I'm trying to figure out. As I've mentioned many times before, I'm doing Rainbow Dash, but none of the cast (minus a few one-off characters) are particularily femanine shaped (because they're ponies...) So, when anthropomorphasizing them (making them human-shaped, since I'm obviously human-shaped) I'm trying to figure just how femanine to make them... Specifically, Breasts and Waist...

Most human females have breasts, most drawn human females and BIG breasts... the ponies have NO breasts... (and since I'm male I'm fairly close to the no-breast department) So should I go with the accuracy of a flat-chested pony like the series portrays, or should I go with the 'expected' big-breasted pony that most of the fandom expects?

Secondly, waist, Again, the ponies have no real curves, but humans tend to. I cinch up into a nice shape (though it's less than comfortable since I have to used a steel-boned coursette) but this isn't exactly accurate to the series... So again, what should I go for, the acuracy or the expectancy?

TL;DR:
Should I try to match the near-genderless series depiction, or go for the 'shapely human female' that most people expect?

Um.. honestly, do what makes you the happiest? You don't necessarily have to go as the "Rainbow Dash people expect".
Personally, I prefer to cosplay for myself first and foremost, rather than cosplaying for fanservice. ^^; Plus, since you're making a human/gijinka version, you have ALOT more elbow-room.

If it makes you feel any better, Rainbow Dash is usually thought to have a flat chest. Since she is athletic, it makes sense. Huge boobs would just get in the way!

It's not exactly Gijinka, but I suppose it's closer to that, I'll be wearing the wig/tail, a blue spandex zentai suit with the face cut out, blue makeup (shaded properly, of course), and blue boots/vest (ala Winter Wrap Up) So it's somewhere between the two I guess...

lol, I can just see a bust rainbow and a small rarity getting into an argument and dash adamanetly telling her that she doesnt even want the boobs and would gladly give them to rarity because they're useless and too much trouble!

I'll take that into consideration, anyone else care to weigh in?

I personally think you should go with the idea of a flat chested or maybe adverage chested Rainbow Dash. I can see her Being mopey about the other's breasts but then reveling in the fact that since she has less she's more areodynamic. And if giving her hips hurts you, don't do it. They're more feminine but she doesn't really seem the type... but again that's my opinion.

The idea of dash latemnting at all over her chest not being as big strikes me as humerous (discounting if Soarin liked large-chested mares) And I have to wear *something* around my waist due to a curved spine making my gut project (even though I'm on the low-end of average for my height) I may just go with a cloth cincher which will flatted it out but not add much of a 'hip' effect.

The only reason I'm seriously looking at the breasts and hips it to make it clear I'm doing the original (female) Dash, not a genderswap (which would actually be 'Rainbow Blitz') I get the feeling if I went in there with a mostly-male body people woult be, at the least, confused (or riffing on me for it) and at worst either find it creepy (femaleish face on male body) or assume it's Blitz... (I've had at least 1 person tell me that just by doing it this way I'm walking dangerously close to the uncanny valley since it's a mince of human and pony without fully being either)

I have a hard time imagining Rainbow Dash with (big?) boobs because, err, she's athletic. If you're comfortable or really want to add feminine curves then go for it although I personally wouldn't mind at all seeing a Dash with a "male body" because she is kinda tomboy-ish anyway.

Rainbow dash does not strike me as a big chested girl mostly as the athletic types tend not to be stacked in RL; fliers wings also burns up a lot of the excess energy they might have so no fat means smaller breast size so doubly doubtful of that.

If you going to make her like if she was human then she'd be a modest chest with well defined legs and butt as she is a runner so that is going to toned as hell. Most fanart that's not porn has them as normal sized girls.

Offtopic: breast size smallest to largest: Pinkie Pie, A; Rainbow Dash, B; Twilight Sparkle, C; Applejack, D; Rarity, D; Fluttershy DD. Rarity knows she has a good figure and AJ is a country girl so bigger breasts are expected.

Fluttershy strikes me as having a slender, more childlike figure, and Pinkie Pie being more curved and rounded.
