Yeah, it really is hot here, especially since it's gonna be in August. I think I may go for short sleeved or sleeveless, I definitely have enough fabric, haha. And the sheer thing may have just been part of his sash, or like..something I miss saw. I am having trouble with his jacket and pants. All the fabric I've found that has the ideal weight is too sheer.
I did just buy fabric for his shirt and sash though, so I'm excited. Haha.

I think for when I cosplay Alibaba I'll be using a light cotton fabric. o: It's not sheer and has a good weight and makes sense for where they're from I think. c:

Yeah, thats the kind of fabric me and my mom were looking for. We found it, but whew...it was like 9 dollars per yard, and I need a lot.

&&You'll definitely see some! This will be my first cosplay EVER, so I am just super stoked.
I'm excited to buy the wig *I'm thinking of getting it from the cosplay.com wig store, and I'm thinking the yellow colour...), I'm excited to figure out make-up for him, and just all around..I dont know. I just cant wait to start! Haha.

Wow that is crazy expensive! I was thinking of getting like.. Broadcloth or something which usually goes for like $3 or $4 per meter! D: Unless you go to Walmart. That stuff is oddly expensive there. @@;

Well, due to the fact that it WAS Hobby Lobby, that might be the reason for the price....Haha, but then again, I'm not sure! It might have just been the type of fabric. The other fabric I bought was pretty cheap, maybe about...$3 - $5 dollars a yard.
And Wal-Mart is definitely expensive. ;A; I'm not even sure why! The Walmart where I live doesn't even really have a wide selection of fabric, it's mostly comprised of different patterns.

That is quite pricey for cotton. To help with cost I'd like to suggest visiting a local Joanne's or Hancock fabric and signing up for their mailing list (it's free), when you do that you get coupons every month. Plus their stores are going to have a wider selection.

As for fabric recommendations cotton is good you might also look at maybe a linen as well. The problem with the color of his outfit is that lighter colors like that are going to appear more sheer than say blue or black.

&&Definitely. I wouldn't mind the jacket being a little sheer, but the pants being sheer would be a little awkward at a con....

You can always double layer the pants so that they aren't as sheer? And that doesn't make them super thick either. o:

Hmm, I did check and see how some of the fabric was double layered, and it wasn't too sheer, you could really only see a shadow. I could wear like spandex under the pants or something for extra safety-ness, haha.

Heehee, discussing with my Morgiana when we should have our shoot. We're currently thinking sometime this summer at a beach to resemble a desert! I'm super excited now

Just gotta convince my one friend to cosplay Aladdin. *U* I think convincing her to get the wig would be the hardest part. xP

What I suggest you do is lay out all your patterns first and see if you can rearrange them to save as much fabric as you can. C:
