Taiyo Cosplay Cheated Me

Just wanted to warn anyone thinking about ordering a costume from Taiyo Cosplay... They (unsuccessfully) attempted to cheat me out of $700+, using their terms of service as an excuse for not completing a comission. Thankfully they use PayPal, which has buyer protection. If you had success with this group, good for you! I'm out to warn future buyers.

They deleted my review on their Facebook page (sketchy!), so I thought I would make one on the forums.

Cheers!

. . . you paid $700 for a costume?

I recall that P.T. Barnum said something about this.

Armor can go for that much. Or electronically wired costumes.

This should go in the Commissioner Review subforum, but thanks for giving us a heads up!

Commissions can definitely go for that much, and more. It's not just for materials but also for labor. This is a custom-made costume, not one that's bought off the rack of some warehouse in China.

Some people like more detailed cosplays, maybe something with armor or that lights up. If that's what they like and they have the money there's nothing wrong with spending that much on a costume.

Ah, welcome to the world of commissioning items! Custom items can be very expensive, I've paid a commissioner around 600, while my fiancÚ has spent almost 1000 on a Loki costume. Cosplay can be a very expensive hobby.

I was wondering if you could explain this in more detail? O___O I have ordered from Taiyo before, and so was wondering how they tried to do this.

Me too.

Wish I had found this earlier.
I left a review on the Review thread about my experience. Good to know about PayPal because it might end up going that way for me too. Their terms are pretty explicit and I feel really stupid for agreeing and not reading them closely enough: No guarantees, no refunds.
