Host Hotels and Roomates

So this will be my first comic-con and since my friends all suck and don't understand my awesome geekiness I'm going by myself.

I made it through the registration process with ease but I have this major feeling that landing a host hotel won't be as easy. I really want to stay at one of the main hosts where there will be a lot of celeb spottings (I hear the hilton, omini and hard rock are the majors). If anyone knows which hotels I should be looking into please share.

With that being said I most def want to try to get a room at one of the main host hotels when they go on sale and could use a roommate or two.

Does anyone know of any websites for roommate finding for SDCC or is there anyone out there who will also be looking for roommates?

Please let me know.

Does anyone know if there is a deposit for booking a room for SDCC during march 29th?

hotels

I've never been but I go to Dragon Con so I'm pretty sure they make you pay at lest the first night. I know that the early bird hotels required up front payment i believe

IIRC they make you pay first night as a deposit, but it's refundable if you cancel by a certain time... I think you have a month or so to finalize.

If I remember last year, after you receive the confirmation for the hotel that you received, you have a couple of weeks before they deduct the first night's payment from your credit card.

It almost feels like I wrote this post because i'm in the exact same boat. I know some people going but they want to stay out in mission valley. So i'm looking for people to get a main hotel room with. I have been to San Diego before and life is sooo much easier if you stay downtown. Anyway that said PM if you are looking for roommates still because i am as well.

Also thanks for the info. I was afraid you had to pay the full price of the room like they are asking for the early bird special rates.

im looking for roommates, i go evey year and find new people to stay with, i dont have a room, yet. i like to stay downtown cuz then i dont have to worry about the trolley, sooo cramped on the trolley!!!

FYI The closer you stay to the convention center the better chance you have of meeting celebrities (marriott marquis and marina, etc.)

Last Year, I stayed at the Hilton Bayfront, the best hotel for celebrity sighting!! I am looking for a roommates when the 29th March passes by. And if you're looking for other forums for Comic Con 2012 roommates. I recommend the TheNERDMACHINE.website.

Juniper728 and Futurebatman send me a PM if either of you guys are interested in being roommates. I plan to reserve a room downtown when they go on sale Thursday the 29th. Hopefully It will not be as crazy as the ticket buying day.

Also thanks for the heads up about the Nerd Machine. website

Hi guys,

I really need some help here (an maybe I can help someone in the process).

Here is the thing, I have booked a room block in a San Diego Hotel for me and some friends, but a few of them could not buy their badges, so they won't go anymore.

My problem is that a Room Block can not be canceled, so I have to pay for these rooms even if they stay empty.

That's why I'm here, cause I know how hard it is to find rooms in the Con Week. And I have these rooms available.

This hotel (I will tell the hotel name, web site and contacts to the ones who mail me)
is really close to the Convention Center (20 minutes walking), and the rooms are private.

So, if you are interested (or know anyone who may be interested) contact me.

So I'm local but I'm looking for a room to keep cosplays and to change. And I am willing to pay depending on the cost too!

Hotel information is now up on the SDCC website. A list of the hotels as well as information for the hotel booking process is available.

Time to pick your top hotel choices for Thursday.

Hey guys, this is my first year ever going and no one I know will go with me! So if anyone would like to room with me somewhere, I would love that! I'm also looking to stay downtown somewhere close to the convention center.

Thanks for the heads up about the room info being up.

Also I guess we should all check in here to see who gets which rooms after the confirmations go out.
