I wish I had seen this before buying from them.

Throwing in my story for good measure.

In November '10, I bought two wigs from them when they had brief cooperation with a Chinese wholesaler with beautiful products, and got the items within 48 hours at an amazing price. So when a friend asked me to order her a black Scruffy wig we needed 14 days from now, I was like, oh this is the best way to ensure we get it on time, let's do it, Cosworx was great last time.

I ordered the wig on April 2nd. They say to expect up to 3-4 days of processing. However, it rapidly becomes April 9th and still nothing, despite multiple attempts to call their customer service phone numbers/email them for a status (no answer on either end). At this point, my friend didn't want to risk it for our 4/14 shoot, so she bought another wig in a beauty supply as a substitute. I email Cosworx asking to cancel, or if it's been shipped, if I can return for a refund. Nothing.

Saturday 4/14 rolls around, we are in the middle of our photoshoot using the beauty supply substitute for the wig we ordered and obviously do not need it anymore. At this point I receive a shipping notification. I send another email basically saying, please go back to the email I sent you five days ago. Either let me send it back when it arrives, or keep it, just COMMUNICATE, PLEASE. Nothing.

At this point, I figure I can find a use for the wig, I just want SOMETHING to happen.

Sometime around 4/17ish, I check on the tracking number for the shipped item. THE WIG HAS NOT MOVED. I get the generic opening message of "electronic shipping info received" but the package has not actually come into USPS' possession. Essentially, I feel Cosworx sent a shipping notification with a tracking number hoping that would shut me up.

Except now they have BOTH MY WIG AND MY MONEY, I HAVE NEITHER. At this point I just want one or the other.

At this point, I gave all their means of contact a last shot--called all their numbers, sent another email. Nothing.

This is where I got creepy. I looked them up via the Better Business Bureau (they have a rating of F on Cosworx, but an A- on Cosplay.com Shopping, well-played, dudes) and get a contact number that wasn't on any of their Contact Us pages.

SOMEONE INSTANTLY PICKS UP.

Except it sounds like they're in a tunnel or underwater. I can't understand a single word. After multiple callbacks on both ends trying to hear each other, I give up and text the number instead. Get a text back that IT'S A LANDLINE. A landline sounds like a cell phone in the desert? Ohhhkayyyy...maybe because Las Vegas IS in a desert? Idk. So now I've tried everything.

Open PayPal dispute. This allows messages to be exchanged that are stored by PayPal for the buyer/seller's own protection. No reply from seller in 3 days. I escalate it to a claim, which essentially asks PayPal to intervene and review.

They gave Cosplay.com until May 1st to reply. After almost 3 days of yet no communication, luckily, I was awarded the dispute settlement and given my money back.

This issue is still current; buyer beware.
They still won't answer any emails or calls. Paypal dispute it is.

Helpful to see this, I was actually thinking of ordering something a few weeks back, but decided last minute to go with an Ebay seller, who was very professional and shipped quickly.

It's too bad that at this point the cosplay.com shop horror stories scare me so much that I'll probably never order anything from them, even if they do somehow drastically improve.

It's been a year since someone last posted in this thread, but don't worry, shop.cosplay.com still sucks. Two months ago I decided to give them another chance for some reason and ordered a wig from them. Still haven't seen it. I've sent a bunch of emails, only a few got replies. Can't believe I've been fooled twice. Don't buy from them.
