Thoughts on Tavros wig?

So I'm planning to cosplay Tavros from Homestuck, and I'm really unsure about what to do with the hair... to get a wig in that kind of mohawk-style.

Or actually, I *know* what I can do... The question is just, which one and how?
The Tavros cosplayers I've seen and heard about seem to use either a) a bald cap with hair sewn on the top, or b) cut the sides off a wig. (And others use their own hair, but I'm not cutting and dying my hair like that just for a cosplay)

Some prefer one way, others prefer another one - I've seen recommendations for both. So I wonder about what you think? I'm leaning a bit towards the bald cap version, because I think it will look nicer, and it seems better to attach the horns to.

Also, any wigs I can use for that?

Hmmm well I have no real knowledge in wigs like this one but maybe Cady from Arda Wigs? http://arda-wigs.com/Cady.html or maybe the Dude http://arda-wigs.com/TheDude.html It has a lace front so you wouldn't have to worry about the hair being slicked back... Sorry I can't help more! This seems like quite the project!

Sorry, but I think that's a little too expensive for me(especially with how much Arda costs to get to where I live), and I'm looking more for methods to attach the wig to the baldcap/cut the wig. But thanks anyway.

Hmmm. Renji from Bleach sometimes has a similar baldcap attachment at the front, but not going all the way to the back of the head. Still, maybe people who've made those wigs will have some advice for attaching a baldcap to a wig?
