Well once, me and my friend were in cosplay on the train. I was Misty from Pokemon and she was Nana from Nana. Our outfits weren't that revealing but you know...short top n stuff, so there was this really really creepy guy who kept looking at us. We were scared, so we went to sit in the hallwaypassagethingy (where the doors to get out are x)) and 5 minutes after that, he suddenly came over there too, stared at us, went back. 5 minutes later he came back, stared, left. Then he came A THIRD TIME and we started casually talking about our black belts in karate and blah 'do you remember that time when you backwards punched that n that guy in the face' *HINTHINT*
After that we didn't see him again x) |

I've had to take the bus three times in cosplay, twice I was alone and got a lot of odd looks (I was dressed up as Haruhi Suzumiya), the second time out of the three though I was with a bunch of my friends, two of which didn't know eachother and then became friends when they met on the bus when I ran into the one that I wasn't chilling with at con. But ya none cosplayers or people whom have never seen a cosplayer in Montreal and its surrounding areas will give you some hillarious looks.
I will add that walking around your own town in cosplay is fun, especially when you go to the bank to get some money. XD

I had to take the bus to C2E2 last year with my friend, my sister and her roommate while in costume. I was dressed as Death from Sandman, so I had dyed my hair black, blow dryed it into a huge poofy 80s look, all black clothes, black lipstick, the works. I probably looked like a super goth haha. My friend was dressed as Delirium so she looked like a raver. My sister and her roommate were dressed as Star Trek: TNG officers, but they had coats on over their costumes, so they didn't look as crazy.
Thankfully more cosplayers got on so we didn't look so weird.

I remember wearing my Pit costume on the bus. I barely made it through the doors with my wings on! ( thank goodness I can fold them up)
There was this super cute little boy on the bus who kept going "mommy, mommy there is an angel on the bus!" ^^ |

I was in New York for Halloween last year and I was dressed like Hancock. We took the subway to get to Time Square, and everyone must have thought I was homeless/crazy because I sorta' cleared the area around me. Anyway, amidst all the stares a few people must have recognized it and started yelling "It's Hancock!" and caused it to dawn on others. They asked why I wasn't flying and I told them it's because I've been drinking. Great times all around.

I haven't done so yet, but for NY Comic Con I'm going to be taking the subway and bus in full cosplay. I honestly can't wait, even though I know most people will just ignore me, if at all just give me a couple of looks. I'll probably be on both for a good 10 to 20 minutes, seeing as my uncle and aunt live pretty far from where the con is being held.

I live in like, the suburbs while the local convention center is downtown so to get to the local con I have to bus for an hour. Now in the area I live there aren't a whole lot of people who understand anime or cosplaying and the bus I have to take to get to the con is always full of kids from my school.
So I get on the bus in my full on Lady Phantomhive/Little Robin/Trap!Ciel whatever you wanna call it, cosplay; Dress, Hoopskirt, hat, wig, gloves, contacts, EVERYTHING. I sit down and at the next stop five kids from my school get on the bus. The only other seats left are near me so they eventually start asking questions. The funny thing was that they didn't recognize me AT ALL with the wig and hat hiding part of my face and blue contacts in. So I answered their question ("it's a costume for a anime convention") When they got off the bus I decided to mess with their heads a little so I shouted "SEE YOU AT SCHOOL!" The looks on their faces were priceless and all monday they were trying to figure out who was the girl from the bus. I eventually told them at the end of the day but it was just too funny ![]() |

My first time was for Comic Con in San Diego. I took the trolly as Lina Inverse. There was not one other human being in cosplay on this thing. Bright red pants, yellow shirt, cape, bright red hair and a sword. The looks I got were horribly entertaining, it was my first time cosplaying as well. This was back in 2002. I was awkward and embarrassed, I'll admit that, but it sure was a fun experience!

I've worn cosplay when returning home from Expo once, the coach was quite crowded and you get quite a few stares when you're covered in facepaint which has been ruined over the course of the day, not to mention I took my wig off and my hair was all rat-tailed and disgusting.
I think the only thing that kept me alive was a sachet of capri-sun and pringles. 8)

I have taken the Dart train twice, I think...possibly three times. My first time going was actually my first time cosplaying, I went alone and was dressed as Winry from FMA (basically black tube top, whiteish capri looking pants, red bandana on head). There lots of older looking homely gentlemen. I was pretty freaked out. Everyone pretty much left me alone, except for a little bit of small talk, but there was an older man that talked to me the whole way...and I mean, he talked the whole time. At first, he was very nice and was almost like a grandpa type figure. He then got into talking about his daughter and how she was really pretty, like me, and that all these terrible things happened to her -- she was kidnapped, raped, and killed. He kind of drifted off rambling lots of times and then would come back and say things like, "You're very pretty." I kind of just responded, "Oh, thank you." And he'd keep getting closer and it became awkward. Thankfully, my stop was next when he got too close to me. Kind of thought he might kidnap me or something with all the creepy talk.
On the way back, I made sure to leave when I saw lots of other cosplayers leaving on the Dart. They were nice enough to allow me to sit with them and we chatted the whole way back. I felt very comfortable and it was much more fun. |

So saturday after my event at my local card store I felt so 'special' XD I had to ride a bus and walk around with my cosplay on. People probably thought I was nuts. (Well atleast the people who didn't know why I was dressed up) There was this one guy near a stop light driving really slowly to the stop line so that he could stare at me. Had people on the bus sneak stares at me, and of course had other passer-bys and moterist staring at me.... At least I won the Avacyn Restored fat pack that I will be given on friday. XD (Pictures of my Liliana cosplay will be up soon, promise! My boyfriend and one of the owners of the card store have to give me the pictures that I am in )(Yes I posted this exact thing in another thread)

All of the outfits I've worn consist of normal, unaltered everyday clothes with a couple of pieces like wigs or a specific jacket I leave in my backpack and put on at the con. So I haven't been gawked at or anything. The only times I've done the full commute in cosplay were as Clark Steel and Junpei Iori.

Haha yeah, last year I had to take about an hour long subway ride to get to the con from downtown Toronto. I was wearing my Mimi cosplay and I got A LOT of very weirded out looks from just about everyone. The closer I got to the con though, a lot friendlier everyone was. I even had a construction worker on the way strike up a conversation about it since he had dropped his son off earlier in the day.
All in all it was an interesting experience.

A few years back me and a group of friends decided to take a greyhound down to one of our cons and it was quite the experience lol. Basically, we didn't have enough space to put everything in our luggage without going over so we deiced to wear our costume's for friday on the bus together so that we'd at least be a group of weird people instead of just 2 people with strange clothes on.
The entire bus was filled with elderly people, I felt so bad for them because it was basically like this us, a giant space, and old people. I think they were just really freaking out until one of them 30 minutes into the ride decided to wander over and ask if we were traveling and in the theater business. We tried to explain to him what conventions were and he seemed pretty confused but he wasn't really rude about it. he just said oh I'm not sure what that is but it sounds like fun and talked to us until we got to our drop of destination. He was really friendly and fun to talk to actually. He was telling us that he used to be in theater and that he thought it was so cool that we all made our costume's. He also said that he had a nice story to tell his kids and grandchildren when he got home from his trip and took a picture with all of us. It was so cute and funny xP. |

The local San Jose light-rail for Fanime is always interesting. My hubby and I also have played the "find the cosplayers" game on it. Last year I was dressed as Holo from Spice and Wold complete with big fluffy tail and ears, but there were also some Ouran Host Club members and Naruto Akatsuki so I wasn't quite the strangest character in the car. Morning ride was pretty quiet but the Evening ride was quite rowdy with kids gossiping and hyped up on sugar while I was so tired I practically passed out in my seat.
