Viking Steampunk

So me and several friends are planning on going to the London Film and Comic Con and were going to do some Steampunk Viking themed cosplay.

I do battle re-enactment mainly based just after the Viking period so have some stuff I could use in the ensemble, namely chainmail, leather braces, padded jack, helmet, coif, shoes etc.

I've come up with some concept images that are based on the sort of thing that we have available, my artistic skills leave something to be desired but the ideas are there:

I feel that alot of these are lacking in both the steampunk and viking department somewhat and strike me as relatively simple. This is my first time doing steampunk so I'm really working from the ground up.

I would really appreciate suggestions.

More stuff in belts! You can never have enough wrenches and fix-y tools. Ever. I also think the shield straps could use a bit more embelishment, but I can't think of a pattern or something now...
