Fan Expo Tickets

So I just found out for financial reasons I am going to have to cancel my Anime North plans this year and will probably be going to Fan Expo instead. I have never been to Fan Expo and had a few questions about the tickets.

I can't figure out if the premium pass is better the the deluxe pass for the weekend. Is it really worth the extra $40? I live out of town so the access to other hobbystar events is negated (I live 20 hours from Toronto) and I could really care less about the free stuff that you get. The ones that peak my interest are:

• Exclusive Expo Entrance
• Special Expo Preview on Thursday at 2:00pm
• Exclusive Premium Lounge Access (limited capacity, on a first come, first serve basis)

so my question is are these three things alone worth the money? Technically I guess it would be $80 since I would be buying a pass for me and my boyfriend. Just discovered tickets go on sale tomorrow morning so I am going to need to make a quick decision :S

Im getting a premium ticket this year to get into the other entrance really for the little bit of extra money it would be worth it though I find the price for fan expo keeps getting higher and higher.

I hope someone who has used a premium pass can tell us if its worth it though.

The use of the special entrance was worth it. The normal line took like a hour at times or more. Most of the "vip" entrances were like 5 mins.

to me the Premium isn't worth it... we got in the same time as Premium last year with Deluxe passes on Thursday... swag doesn't interest me... so I just get Deluxe... I won't be able to afford it til after AN though so I hope they don't like... sell out...

If you're in a rush to buy merchandise and want to get in as fast as possible to do so then yes its a good idea to get a premium pass, but if you're just looking around, taking pictures/getting pictures taken and hanging out with friends then its not necessary. The premium pass also allows you free access to any other hobbystar events untill the next Fanexpo, where purchasing a separate ticket at those event can go anywhere from 15 to $20.

Yeah this is why I want a premium pass to not have to stand in line for too long suppose it be worth it for me.

I decided to buy a premium this year. From personal experience, I didn't want to spend the money last year, but then I had my friend wait in line w me when she had a premium so I don't want to inconvenience her this year. Also, the three points you listed are totally worth it if you're looking to checkout a lot of stuff (is a sucker for celebrities). The lounge seems like it would be a great place to rest up.

Does anybody know if the lounge has lockers btw? -is curious-

No locker sadly as it's just another room with table to pick up your stuff and rest.

It gone up $14 this year (it jumps rather high) I'll probably pass this year and get the Deluxe because I doubt D-TAC will run and only appreciated the advance entrance on Saturday if I was in a mascot costume. Also their in the South Building again this year (Never do the Norths building again)

I just went and got the premium pass. I figure if I am going to go might as well go all the way.

So, the Fan Expo sites says the events only run until 9 or 7 at night. Is this true? Just wondering if it's worth it to stay at a hotel or just use public transit to get their from a friend's apartment. He live pretty much on St Clair West Station and it doesn't look too far of a trip on transit but since I don't live in TO I can't tell :S

If you have a place to crash for free, then you should do it. It'll save you a ton of money. Also, the show rooms and panels and such will be done by the times listed on the site. There is an after party at the royal york on the saturday and a anime dance on the friday which is after hours, so it all depends on what you'd like to do. I have no idea how Toronto transit works, not from there :P

Not a expert but Subway stop around 130am, I think the buses run 24h. Taxis may be option to.

I just went with a Deluxe Pass. I don't really need the extra swag.

I wasn't to worried about the money, it's my vacation C: I just didn't see the point in staying at a hotel if the action isn't 24/7 like Anime North where it's worth it to stay at the DoubleTree.

He lives on Bathurst St inbetween the two platforms for St.Clair West Station. From google maps it's straight down Bathurst to Front street where the convention centre is. Think I may be ok transportation wise as an after party and dance aren't really my thing. Thanks guys!
