Too old to cosplay?

Hey, cosplay looks really fun and I wish I had gotten into it earlier. I've never gone to a con before either but I've been into anime since I was like 10 years old.

I feel like I'm too old for some reason it just seems like age 14-18 would be ideal age for cosplaying. I just turned 22 and embarassingly I want to try crossplay as my first cosplay lol but I think I may look too old now to pull it off oh well lol

Anyway I've never really been to a con before, so I was wondering what's the average age of people there that cosplay?

You'll risk offending some people on here, suggesting 22 is too old to cosplay!

What? No way! I'm 22 and this was my first year cosplaying. I have friends that are in their mid to late 20's cosplaying. Hell I've seen much older people cosplay before. It's normal.

I've seen plenty of anime fans in their 30's and 40's cosplaying, and there's totally no reason why you shouldn't try now . Go for it ayim!

Just google Grandma Rikku. XD And I will be turning 30 this year, been cosplaying since 16. Really grinds my nerves when someone thinks that there is such thing as to old... Na only thing I feel about being to old about is replying to threads about being to old.

You're never to old, to young, to fat, to skinny, to ugly, to pretty, wrong ethnicity/race, wrong color, wrong gender, or anything else you can thing of. There is just never in cosplay so long as you put you're best into your cosplay and make sure it fits.
Shhhh. The coffee-tachi are brewing. -Ari

Just like all the others who posted before me said, there is no age limit, as long as you are comfortable dressing up as a character you love then you're good. I'm turning 21 this year and I have friends in their mid-twenties and older who still cosplay, so like I said as long as you want to do it you're at the right age
Cosplays for 2014
Ankh (Fem! Human version)
Gokai Blue/Female Super Megaforce blue
Gajinka Gatomon (humanoid)
Ymir from SNK

22 is too young to cosplay, if we have to say something about the age of the characters. If you have seen enough anime and played enough videogames, you'll realize that most of the characters are between 20-40. IE: I've been cosplaying Rose from Legend of Dragoon since I was 13, but NOW I'm her actual age (25). I've been too young to cosplay her, until now.

Children are rare, as well as really old people. Teens are more common, but most of the time they look like they are in their twenties. And a lot of 20 to 30 characters look like they are from 30-40, etc. Maybe this sounds weird to you, but a lot of the time I think the characters look much older than their actual age.

There also are characters who really don't have a specifical age/gender or aren't human. I only see a problem if you only like to cosplay very little kids. And even given this case, it doesn't have to look bad. I cosplayed Gaara when he was 8 at my 22 years old and I looked alright. I've also seen a Japanese girl cosplayer who probably is +30 (and pretty tall!) cosplaying Violet from The Incredibles...and she looked better than the actual character (Violet is a short teen who looks like a 10 year old girl).

LOL 22 is so young!! I'm nearing 28 and still crossplaying I've seen people in their 40s cosplaying and doing it with style and grace. Especially for some characters I think the older cosplayers give it a certain air that just seems to work

Weighing in here--I'm turning 32 this year and I still love to cosplay. It's not about how old you are; it's about how old you feel.
