How busy is Ginko usually? I'm hoping to go there for dinner at some point during the con.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that place. My boyfriend and I are in the DT this year and I insisted that we try it out on Saturday or Sunday night.

How do you eat at AN?
I just thought of this convo because I've seen it mentioned on tumblr, aswell as thought about it with friends. We each have our own way of storing food with us durin the con weekend at least right? (Unless of course you just eat at a restaurant.) What's your plan of action for con food?
Last time I went to AN in a hotel, me and my friends packed lunachables, protein bars, and rice krispies.

last year for me it was instant noodles, and a few snacks. Although we went to harvey's once for lunch. And picked up some of the small onigiri and django at the japanese restaurant in the DT.

I bring food from home mostly, to save money at the con. Though I do love stopping by the convenience store next to the Harvey's, and getting pizza and such at the Doubletree.

my boyfriend and i mostly eat out, but we bring our own breakfast foods for saturday and sunday- we stay three nights in the hotel, so we have monday morning there too- and otherwise we eat out. I swear by the onigiri for lunches.

I use to do the whole camp food thing but I just can't anymore. A weekend of pre-packaged food makes me feel sick the last two years I did it.
The Friday morning i try to make a big meal at home before hitting the road. Friday night is sometimes dinner out Caseys or Jack Astors Saturday morning I pick up a breakfast sandwich if I'm not in a rush. (usually in P-Js) before the masquerade I pick up something from the DT japaniess resturant as a snack. The Onigiri as been the best thinks I've eaten at AN. lol Subway is my BFF at AN. Since we have a mini fridge in my room I usually grab a sub for both summer and breakfast the next day on Sunday. (Or if I didn't go out Friday night I pick up a subway. lol)

For me, my mom might give me money to eat. Not for me to mooch off of, it's just so that she doesn't worry that I get hungry and so I have money with me. There's a Harveys right next to the con, so i'll probably eat there for that one day or something and the other 2 i'll probably bring food from home. Though if you choose to eat at Harveys it might be full because last year even though I didn't eat there; I was just there waiting for my friend. I'm local so food rations isn't really a problem.

This year our plan is to stuff the 3 fridges in our 3 rooms with food (the last 3 years at the Rad, all our rooms have had fridges so... if we dont this time... I will be very upset) and bring some stuff that doesn't need the fridge too... we plan on bringing cup noodles, and veggie trays and meat and cheese and bread, and granola bars an crackers... and maybe something like home made Tuna salad or something... we'll see... we plan to try and NOT eat out anymore then maybe once all weekend (like maybe after the con ends on Sunday we might treat ourselves to some Subway while we relax in the hotel room before 90% of us leave...(we have one of the 3 rooms booked for Sunday night so we can store luggage all day sunday, so we can all relax in there, and then just 2 or 3 of us will stay the night, but the others can stay for a bit at least XP)

I went with cups of instant noodles and granola bars for the most part, with the odd bought lunch and dinner here and there.

There's a Food Basics if you hop on the bus (or drive) about ten minutes away. For the past three years, it's been my secret destination on Friday around noon (along with Country Style donuts in the same strip mall).
If I can, I avoid the restaurant cluster by the TCC during Saturday. Too busy, and I'd rather not spend hours of my precious con time waiting in line. Besides, there's a Boston Pizza down by the Sheraton, and that's loads better than Harvey's or whatever. |
