@Frieght: Have you considered Sakura Con in Seattle? I've heard good things about it the last few years from friends that have gone. I'm planning to skip Fanime next year to go and honestly I think my days at Fanime are through
We discussed the ROOKiEZ is PUNK'D reveal a bit on our podcast recording today. It's weird how there's still no wide announcement of a band that headlined a series that was part of the re-awakening of anime in pop culture. This is something I'd expect more flair in the reveal.

I would like to go to Sakura-Con, but the money and days off are never in the same place at the same time for me. Though I'm not planning on going back to Fanime next year either. I've had a very aggressive convention schedule for someone not paid to be at them, and I'm trying to find the gems and weed out the worse ones. Unfortunately, the aggressive nature of Fanime's hotel registration reaching SDCC levels doesn't make me want to do it anymore.

Glad to hear that it work out sound wise.
How was the setting? Were they flat, fold
out chairs like in 2009? (-_-)

That's if TOYOTA brings them back. AX didn't bring the Vocaloids, it was TOYOTA.

I have a feeling this "major" GoH announcement is their first musical GoH (Starmarie is an industry guest, so there is a difference in that). It's going to be a hit or miss on this one. Also AX officially announced their fashion show. I'm not into the whole entire J-fashion scene, so that's an automatic pass for me.

Yes they were, and there were raised bleachers in the back for standby seating.

Freght: Yeah I would expect more flair in that announcement, but I guess it speaks to the overall lack of organization and all that that I've been reading about as it pertains to Fanime.

@Hetalia: While Toyota had a part in the Miku concert in 2011 as a sponsor, if it wasn't for Crypton's cooperation Mikunopolis really wouldn't have happened at all

What the hell...I shouldn't be surprised, considering the negative circumstances that AX is dealing with both financially and from a reputation standpoint, but sheesh...I am disappoint. Oh how I wish that Lattanzio and El Presidente never happened to AX so that the con wasn't in a precarious financial state nor its reputation soured among the industry

Unfortunately, the technology for time travel doesn't exist yet in our time.

But let me know. if you ever do see a converted silver DeLorean car from 1985, and there's a kid named "Marty", and a crazy white haired scientist named "Doc" driving it.

And do let me know too, if you ever do see a British police box, and a person with a British accent, who answers to "Dr. Who" comes out of it.

Speaking of huge things that take you places..

How are the busses and what not from the hotel to the con doing? I haven't heard much about it.

You mean the hotel con shuttles? Last I heard, it's still a go.

You can check the link here:

http://www.anime-expo.org/accommodat...aps-directions

I'm not sure if they had updated the site info though, and whether the shuttle info is for this year, or from last year.
