Would this fabric work?
I am making this dress for Mey-Rin of Kuroshitsuji, and I was wondering if broadcloth would work for it. I was looking at buying it from Joann's but the reviews all say their broadcloth is bad quality. Does anyone know if this stuff is any good? It says for fuller skirts so I'm hoping it will work. Thanks! ^_^

The issue with broadcloth is that it ends up being very thin...you may want to line the whole dress or look at something more like
This Kona Cotton (Lighter weight than the second, and 100% cotton...however, much more opaque than Broadcloth... would still need lining or undergarment to make this fabric drape like the dress) http://www.fabric.com/ProductDetail....5-9f7b2ffd488d Poly/cotton twill May be a little heavier but it will be opaque and will drape how you need it too http://www.fabric.com/ProductDetail....4-a54d67cf6474 Cotton Poplin would also be a prime choice even though you might make the dress with fabrics with body and support... the need for undergarments (Petticoats and bloomers) is still going to be there because you need that to make the skirt fluff out I've only ever heard negative things about BC for general Costume use..I used it for my Ramona flowers bag, and after all the painstaking applique work..the cotton wore and got a hole in it...

I was looking at that Kona cotton earlier but lack of description kind of threw me off. The poly/cotton seems much better for it but would it be stiff? I also don't really want the dress to be shiny and the cotton poplin seems to have a shine to it. Yes, I have already looked up how to make petticoats and found the materials
. Also, an additional question, what could I use for the apron and white parts of the dress? I've already found how to make it thanks to earlier questions but I was figuring broadcloth for it too. Thanks so much for the quick response!

If you have ever seen high quality quilting cotton..that's usually Kona cotton (it's the name of the company that manufactures it), it's smooth and pretty good drape wise...It can be used in dress shirts and such... so think of that weight.
Washing Poly cotton will make it softer, and you can always order swatches too to check it out. Poplin has a sheen but it's not like Satin or even matte satin..It's got a lux look without looking too costume in most cases, but it might be dressy for a maid.
