Craftfoam Armor - Modge Podge Vs. Glue Water

I can't really decide what to do. I found a tutorial on line that uses glue water to create armor, but I see that some people prefer modge podge as well. Glue Water is soluble, but what about modge podge? If it were to get wet could it flake off or melt off rather? What about glue water, fabric pasted on and then coated over with modge podge? or is that over kill?

Thanks!

it is nice to know what kind of ark your making
as some materials have advantages in different cases
there is also costs and personal skill to consider

i show the fun stuff st that can be made with plastics
but the start up costs are high so not many ppl give it a try

modge podge is pretty much white glue. Its only a little thicker. For my costume I just used three - four coats of undiluted white glue, sand with 700 -900 grit sand paper (this you normally can't find in hardware stores, you'll need to go to hobby shops to pick up finer grit sandpaper.

Prime, sand again, then paint.

To answer you water question, PVA glue (which is modge podge, white glue etc.) Is water soluble so once you paint it, you will need to seal it. If it doesn't need to be flexible, clear coat it with an enamel or a varnish and your good to go. However if it does need to be flexible, you'll need a latex clear coat, and an umbrella.

I hope this helps.

Oh crap! I didn't even realize who I was replying to. Yeah, I've fallen in love with foam now, its providing a lot of good opportunities. I suggest you check out the RPF to get some good tips from them as they seem to be working on a lot of foam stuff recently too.
