Those are all great suggestions but I am afraid that the paper feathers would get all banged up. Might end up with felt, and figure out how to make them look like feathers.

What Illustration are your thinking of doing?

SuperBee craft foam can be cut to any shape you want with an Xacto knife and heated to add curves.

The feathers don't look that real in game as well. I like the idea of using either felt of foam (again foam is eiser to shape) and for the center quill you can use white fabric paint that is naturally raised to do it. Pebeo textile touch make one that add a nice raise without too much bulk unlike tulip puff paints. But I'm only use it on foam so far to make some leave with viens.

You are so knowledgeable! That's an idea. Might use a combo of felt and foam. Thanks for all your suggestions!

My leaves are curved like the top of hearts with a ringed in the center and a secondary curl outwards to form the two humps.

Next year, I'm planning on cosplaying as AI from Vocaloid 3

my friend will attempt to cosplay as SeeU, and my other friend somebody from Vocaloid 3 as well :P We are also attempting to get weekend tickets, so if you see me take a pic :P All my cosplay is hand made and unique in some way lol... (as in, it sucks in some way :S) but it is still unique. I'm open to pics being taken, it just takes forever to find them :S or longer... considering I havne't found any from last year either. xD

Since I had to miss this year's AN, I'm definitely already thinking about how I'm going to make up for it next year. I'm thinking of maybe doing Yoko Littner in her teacher outfit (post-time-skip), as I've been wanting to do that costume for a long time and TTGL is one of my favourite anime. Or I might do Tessa Testarossa from Full Metal Panic!, for similar reasons. But I'd also like to do a costume that can be part of a group with my dear friends, such as Soma Peries in her A-laws uniform from Gundam 00 (my friend said she'd be Revive if I did it), or Fuyuumi from La Corda D'Oro (so my violinist friend can be Kahoko)...
Decisions! Good thing I have a whole year to think about it... ^_^;;;

I wanted to wear my Korra cosplay this year but I was way too busy to get it done so I'll be starting it as soon as my sewing machine gets back from being tuned up.

lol after every AN I always get super excited about making costumes and what I'm going to cosplay next year. I usually start on some costume but either don't finish it, or don't end up wearing it. :P
At the moment I still have a Celes (FF6) cosplay in the works. I'm really hoping to finish that and wear it. So unless I get some awesome idea in the months to come, I'll probably use Celes as one of my costumes for AN next year. (I usually bring 2 costumes to AN so the second one is still undecided.)

My group is in the planning stage of what we are going to do. XD It's really bad since we have a con in like a week and we're focusing on next year's AnimeNorth. I'm really hoping we will end up doing Fate/Extra for one of the days but I don't know if they would be up to it since only one of the two has actually played the game.

You can also burn designs in foam with a wood burning tool or soldering iron (wood burning tool would be better in this case because it gives you more control). That way you can add more detail to your feathers.
