Since I am in Japan right now I can't start my cosplay till late January D=
which is kinda a stress in my head because I will only have 4 to 5 months to put together 3 cosplays most likely. Right now my main cosplay is going to be Princess Serenity from the manga for Saturday; I might switch out of it later in the day since it is a big cosplay that i am planning.
Not to sure who else yet for AN though xD I dont want to make another big costume. Maybe I might debut my Kokonoe cosplay from BlazeBlue this year xD

You can? Well that makes sense. I do have a small burning tool that is used to adhere rhinestones, I suppose that will work.

What I think I will do.. looking at the images, because there are 3 layers of feathers layer 1 and 3 will be foam and layer 2 will be felt. The wings will be foam and I will try that shaping technique. I will have to experiment with adding some detail to the feathers. Since it is a more or less simple dress I think that some details may be alright but not to go overboard because it would take away from it. So I think layer 2 and 1 will have more detail progressively. Ah so much to think about. Now since we are having crazy rain I may start Hex today. I will need some flowly fabric as seen in trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEBdl_-5PvI .

The wig. Short, with making two giant buns and wrap a tone on braids round them and layer them in the back.

Considering one cosplay has to be done for Con-G, I'm starting in the summer and will work through. Gotta get them perfect.

Seeing as my lineup is Kefka, Ultimecia, and Grell

Can we say crazy/psycho/batshit insane/glorious characters? One has soo many details to do OTL Darn you Kefka and your thousands of details....

Already have all of Kefka's beads, some of his fabric, ordered his wig... Ultimecia I have her beads... Grell? Almost everything just missing the wig mostly... and the chainsaw

Haha, your suggestions are exactly what I'm doing! XD Great minds think alike. I have everything planned out already since I was going to finish the costume for Otakuthon this year, but... Ehh, group cosplay happened so it's getting pushed way back. I even have my skit audio already! Haha.

Instead of the back plat, I'm wearing a corset with slots for the wings under the black dress so there's more support. I ordered some faux silk gradient chiffon too. I actually tried the leggings thing already, but I messed up my first pair because making evenly spaced designs in stretch fabric was a more finicky than I expected. I'll have to draft it out and sew it while wearing them. So fun... x__x

I'm a bit worried about the wig since I'll have to do both back parting and pull hair up, and I have very little experience with wigwork. I might ask to use your database for that later. XD

Yep! Some small details like adding a few barbs in the feathers shouldn't detach from the costume, as long as you remember to paint white over the burnt parts again.

^ I'd say Hex first since your planning to wear her sooner. ^_^

Actually if you have the budget Arda's back parted wig like the Chibi or Leia are great starting point KakeraのTsuki.
http://arda-wigs.com/pages/unique-types
I got the Leia for my Kongiku wig because at the time the Jasmine wasn't an option and I need a wig that I could start with having long hair for the side loop. It was more work then was need for my purposes since i had to remove most of the back part anyways and sew in in a tone of wefts (3 long ponytails worth) to fill it out again. In doing so I also expanded the wig base too fit my head better.

If you want the part wig recommend the Chibi as their is minimal alteration. My head was too larger still for the Chibi when I ordered one for Mami initially at it is a 22.5" wig in circumference the expands only 1/2 of a inch.

HareyuNanami seeing some in person might change your mind. Some times I know it's cheaper to buy them then make one so I've commissioned three so far. There usually the simpler ones I don't mind farming out.

Those are perfect! Darn. I wish I had checked arda earlier. "OTL Unfortunately, I bought my wig and wefts already. If things go horribly wrong, I'll buy the chibi. =)

By the way, you filled your hair loop with upholstery foam, if I remember correctly. Did you use any other materials for support to keep the shape?

I agree with this. I've commissioned costumes because it's just cheaper when you factor in the time. I know I have the skills needed to make it, but I'd rather be spending my time doing something other than sew row upon row of ruffles. XD

Wire but because it was so heavy with only one point of contact I needed to add about 20 wood skewers through the foam and stub to give it more shape. For buns I recommend white foam or insulation foam as it's lighter and has no flex to it.

Kukkii-san have tutorials on how to make buns.
http://www.cosplay.com/gallery/58829/

Also on how to stub as wig.

A part of me really wants to attempt this for AN next year. It's so pretty. *_*. The only real concern I have is the sitar since I do need to transport it from Jersey to Canada in one piece and especially the piece on the end of the instrument looks like it would be really frail.
