My mom is weird....whenever I get a costume/accessory/prop commissioned or I buy fabrics/jewelry/gloves/etc., she always says, in an annoyed tone, "Why do you keep wastin' your money?!" 9__9

Then the day of the con, when I'm getting dressed to leave and coming downstairs, she's always helping me straighten things out to make sure it looks good, starts asking about the character, and if I have everything I need, and demands to see pics of who I'm cosplaying to make sure everything is okay.

I think, she's supportive, despite her initial reaction....we just had an hour long convo and google search to find a boobage solution for my FFX-2 Yuna shirt....lol

You'd think this would frustrate me to no end but I'm quite to used to it. My mom doesn't retain info like this well... Bless her heart, at least she's supportive and tries to understand.

My Dad is like that too. He calls Lin Xiao Li Ching Lau Chang and Jizabel Disraeli Jezebel. The second one isn't so bad because that's how Jizabel's name is translated in some cases, but with Lin, I just know he's stringing Chinese sounding syllables together.

My mom also like to categorize my costumes by distinct features or colors. For example, Masamune is the "blue guy", Rokuro is "the one with the cool jacket", and Nico Robin is "the purple lady" or "cowgirl".

When Mum found out about the fact that my default cosplay character is a spider themed character (both her and I are terrified of spiders), this happened:

Her: Why does she have eight pupils? Is she....... that THING? (We refer to spiders as "those things")
Me: Yyyyyyyyep.
Her: Tell me you're not cosplaying her.
Me: Sure.
Her: You're not serious.
Me: Mmmmmmmmaybe.
Her: Make sure I'm asleep when you leave the house so I don't see you.

She warmed up to her when I started talking about making wings that lit up and moved for another cosplay of that character. And suddenly, she started to give me makeup tips, even though I'm PRETTY SURE she's never put on full body paint. But who knows????????

My dad just doesn't question it, and even got excited and started giving me tips about acting like the character when I told him that I wanted to cosplay a female version of his favourite superhero, Captain America.

Now, both of my parents are TOTALLY INTO IT but Mum still won't come to cons WHICH IS OKAY. Dad's going to be taking pictures at a photoshoot my friend and I are having, and he's also taking photos of cosplayers for his photography class. Pretty cool, if I do say so myself!

my mom is actually really excited about it, which is unexpected because i'm 14 and it can get expensive lol. she also likes photography and i think she plans on doing photoshoots haha. my friend's mom stays with us in hotels and goes to cons with us since we're under 18 and someone has to be with someone with us.

my parents are really cool about it and never have anything negative to say about it even when they know how much I spend on my costumes ^^

I am cosplaying as Blondie (Sucker punch), my step dad was fine with it and he liked my costume I was more worried about my mom's reaction considering it's a somewhat revealing costume. She's very americanized for an asian mom but sometimes I get those worries so when I popped into the room, she was "cool!" hahaha

Me: At least it's only pretty clothes!

My mom has always been cool with my cosplaying, she thought it was cool, but she had a boyfriend one time who told her that she should make me stop cosplaying because 'cosplaying is the devil' ... I loled so hard XD
