There is also the Days Inn Hotel and Conference Centre which is about a 15 min walk from the TCC, but you are heading north up city view drive.

Even without special rates, this looks like the cheapest hotel I've seen so far. Hm...and it's about as far as the 970 Dixon hotel.

But it looks like you have to walk across Highway 409 to get there in a decent amount of time o_O

How are you even supposed to cross that?

Carefully. Usually it's not so congested that you can't quickly walk across at an on-ramp/narrower part (at least, I think? Which is the one you cross when taking the shortcut from the Crowne to the TCC?).

I'm honestly just going off Google Maps. City View Drive goes across the highway, apparently. And it's all "there might not be sidewalks in this route", so I figured that meant crossing a highway.

Unless there's actually a path of City View Drive that goes across it safely.

I've noticed that the farther you stay from the TCC, the less the hotels cost and the less likely they are to eff up your reservation.

it goes over the highway with a bridge... it says no side walks because there is none... its just a little street, not very busy (unless its changed since I stayed around there in 2009), try using street view?

I used street view and I couldn't find a spot where sidewalks did not exist.

You are right in thats its not a busy street, which should be appealing to people that don't like how busy Dixon is.

The hotel also will likely have a ton of rooms left, good for anime clubs and the like that need to find rooms for 15+ people.

Thought that the thread had disappeared...

Because I waited too long, I ended up booking at the Courtyard Toronto Airport.

Two Queen room, non-smoking. 125/night. Check-in Friday, check out Sunday. Everything comes up to 282.50 CDN. Just got off the phone with guest services at the hotel because I wanted to make sure that the rate included parking and it does! So I don't have to pay for parking, which is nice. I also think it includes buffet (?!). Has anyone stayed there in the past? Is it good?

Last time I checked, the Marriot still has rooms for the convention. Sheradan doesn't have anything for Saturday, which is just weird. The Crowne is booked, according to the website. Sandman has rooms but it's regular rate online. I didn't get the chance to call but I heard that they dont have anything for the AN rate. Nothing for the Residence Inn and Holiday Inn East.

I've only ever stayed at the Royal York (for fan expo) and they have a $100 /per night deposit that you pay when you check-in and get back later.

Does the Crowne Plaza have this too? And is it the same amount per night or more/less?

If you do get into the Crowne, from what I recall it's a $100, total, deposit, though it might change depending on how many people are in the room (I've stayed there in 2010, and since just me and my bf are the ones in the room we've never experienced any of the "Costs more with more people" things.)

Okay, thank you! I'm glad the deposit doesn't seem too crazy, but I'll keep in mind the price could be higher with more people.

Yep, I paid about a $200 deposit for the Friday-Sunday in 2012.
