I went last year with some friends and had an amazing time! I'm very excited to go back again this year! The hotel is so much fun to wander around in!

Wow...Australia, and I thought I was traveling far! This is my first con, and I was wondering; is it going to be any fun for my family members who know nothing about anime? I hope to be going as Dante (DMC3) by the way!

There are a multitude of panels not just on anime as well as events! My co-panelist and I alone are doing a Japanese cooking panel, one on Japanese festivals/holidays and one on urban legends. Plus the RenCen is quite a lot of fun to wander around in as the architecture is beautiful in my opinion.

As long as your family is open to trying new things and aren't put off by people in costumes, then it should be just fine!

The Renn Cen looks absolutely gigantic! Is it easy to get lost in? Or are convention activities mainly dedicated to just a certain area of the Center? Plus I know Youma has the Cobo as well this year, but I'm just hoping my first year won't be spent trying to navigate my way from point A to point B!

They are only using a small part of Cobo. There is another event using other parts of that building at the same time.

They are only using the event space within the RenCen Marriott, about 100,000 sq ft, smaller then AWAs Cobb Galleria Centre (144,000 square feet)

It's not that far. The walk is comparable to the distance between the reg lobby and Inner Harbor at Otakon.

In that case, it just looks like a greater distance than it really is. I do a lot of cardio so it shouldn't be too bad to have to walk it. I just hope it's not too chilly or raining, then I think I'll have to take the People Mover.

Its usually really cold. I'm hoping for warmer weather too. but if its dark i'm gonna take the people mover.
