Well its that time again, yup time for the funnest and coolest cosplay event in Tokyo and that is Wonderfest! For those who are new or returning you might remember that is was in Makuhari Messe at the TGS building and the purpose is basically a big market for custom model kits however cosplay is half the event! At this event you can bring ANY costume, big costumes and props are welcome to dress to the nines and have a good time! Here are the details;

Day; July 29, 2012. Doors open at 10:30am, closes at 4pm
Location: TGS building at Makuhari Messe
Fee; 1500 yen entry, no dressing room charge for cosplay.
Costume Restrictions; NONE!!!!! BRING THE BIG STUFF< WE WANT TO SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know I'll be there. Love Wonder Festival. Now that the event has become so popular with cosplayers I think I'll try and get to the dressing room a little earlier so I can maximize my wandering around and staring at stuff time.

As usual I'm going to cater to the hobby crowd, so I have two new summer friendly uniforms in the works. Italian 185ª Divisione paracadutisti "Folgore" (North African campaign) and German Sanitätswesen der Luftwaffe (North African campaign).

I can't go now... I'm heading back to the US in two weeks for job hunting and won't get back until just before comiket.

I miss cosplaying, haven't had a decent costume, and I'm afraid stuff I would wear here wouldn't compare to all the other great ones I see. That and having dark skin makes me nervous about what to cosplay.

Never stopped the Japanese from cosplaying characters with blond hair and blue eyes. Colour of skin, ethnicity, gender; no one cares in the Japanese cosplay scene. Seeing as 90% of all anime/manga/game characters are more or less "Caucasian" in appearance, the cosplay selection would be pretty small in Japan if people actually cared.

People go to events like wonder fest to relax and have fun. And remember, we're all foreigners. The Japanese see that first and foremost. Try to use your "foreignness" to your advantage in cosplay.
