Any other Paleo Cosplayers?

I've been paleo for about 8 months. I was just curious if there were any other cosplayers who also ate this way.

I tend to follow the whole30/It Starts with Food approach.

I have seen a few people mention on here. I will be starting it soon to get in shape for my Ace and Beast cosplays.

I don't think she actually posts here, but MangoSirene (or Hythe) is on the paleo diet. She posts a lot of stuff about it on her sites.

O_O I completely missed this thread for some reason. Yes I do Paleo, I love it so nice and simple and healthy. Even if it makes conventions a little painful.

Thanks to my recent discovery of www.Nerdfitness.com I'm considering going paleo. Just trying to eat healthy for the moment while I do more research, prep my kitchen for the change. Can you give me any tips on how to start paleo? Did you do it in one fell swoop or did you gradually ease into it?

Me personally I did it in one fell swoop. I ate the last of all my non-paleo stuff or threw it away and just started. I found that easier to do than to ease myself into it. Most books also recommend just diving straight on in. You have no idea how addicting sugar is until you deprive yourself of it.

@LadyVye

I follow a low carb lifestyle which is essentially on the same page as paleo.
You may want to check out:

I love listening to Jimmy Moore's podcasts with doctors, researchers, dietitians, and many more. There are over 700 podcasts to choose from with TONS of good information.

I eat paleo (most of the time!). Just finished my first whole30. It does make conventions complicated though. Other than that and the constant/cooking cleaning/cost, I love it!

I'm thinking of starting soon. I'm sad I won't be able to eat rice, or bread, or cake anymore - but it's for the better. I think it's gonna be really tough for me though, since I live in a dorm and no kitchen for myself, grocery store is a long while away and the dining hall food on campus isn't exactly healthy... everything, even the meat, is probably processed TT^TT but I am determined to do it.

I've been doing low carb since Feb and have lost almost 110lbs. It's definitely been my favorite diet. Some of my best resources are: www.reddit.com/r/keto and www.dietdoctor.com/lchf

Oh my gosh thank you for those links - I want to print those out and take them with me to dining halls and restaurants as I start this diet! xD

One thing to be careful with about switching over to a low (simple) carb diet, especially to lose weight: if you ever fall off the wagon and/or revert back to eating lots of carbs (especially simple carbs), the weight will likely come back with a vengeance, plus more.

@LadyVye
I would definitely recommend doing it all at once. It may seem like it would be harder to start all at once, but it is actually much easier in the long run. Just be prepared for the wheat withdrawals; but there's no good way of getting around those.

I am 5'4" and was 117 when I before my first whole30. I started it for acne, not weight loss actually, but I was 107 at the end of the whole30.

After my first whole30 I felt pretty good, but I felt that I hadn't noticed a big enough difference to keep eating that way. I immediately derailed after my whole30 and ate a bunch of junk food. Only after that did I realized that I did feel a ton better during the whole30. It had just been gradually over a month and so I hadn't noticed the changes.

Looking back though, it's completely changed the way that I approach food and eating.

http://www.whole9life.com/category/whole-30/ <--- This is a good starting point
