It’s that time of year once again, folks: time for the Official ALA 2013 Cosplay Gathering thread!

Due to some crowding issues in the past, we’re going to be trying something a little different this year. Rather than stack multiple gatherings at any one time, we’re going to be staggering cosplay gatherings on the 20 minute marks of any given hour. All this means is that instead of having 3 gatherings at, for instance, 3 PM, we’ll have those gatherings at 3:00, 3:20, and 3:40 respectively. Please note that this is NOT intended to force groups out of their spot after 20 minutes! Rather, it is to allow each group enough time and space to meet up, have fun, and disperse without worrying about blocking traffic.

In order for this system to work, each time slot for a specific location can only be claimed by one group. This is a first comment, first serve set up, guys! As ever, please submit your gathering to this thread with a link to your gathering's original thread and the date, time, and place you would like. (Also: it's never a bad idea to make contingency plans for rain!)

Another note of importance: we understand that it takes more time for larger gatherings to get things going/clear out of a space, and we don’t want to rush you. If your gathering is expecting more than 30 people and you would like an extra 20 minutes for your gathering, please let me know in your post!

EDIT: All gatherings that had their information posted here as of WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 12TH will officially make the program book! This listing will continue to be updated until the convention, but I can no longer guarantee that your gatherings will be printed in the book or on posted signs.

Hi, this is short-haired Jackie from the staff meeting! From my understanding, Jordan's been in contact with you about the Homestuck gathering; after reviewing the availability info on the spaces, we've decided a longer time slot in the patio would be more efficient than a shorter time slot on the pool deck. Ideally, we'd like to hold the gathering on Day 1 or Day 2 in the afternoon; it was discussed briefly at the meeting that cosplay chess may be changing times, and it would be preferable that the gathering not overlap with the time slot for that, regardless of location.

There is a placeholder thread for the gathering, although no details have been set in stone yet. Mostly I would like to confirm that this is feasible given the current time and location restraints. Thanks!

Hi Jackie! I've been in contact with Jordan, and yes, we'll definitely be able to work something out. Also, as of earlier this week Cosplay Chess is moving inside to Main Events, so you won't have to worry about any overlap with that if you do want to use the patio.
