thanks for the heads up! I'll check out the wig^-^ I'll be looking out for you too at Smash 2013!, I wov Italy and can't wait to see your fem ver. ^-^
hmmm...my suggestions for Mohawks sword would be, that before anything do a sketch, use ref pictures and look at objects that would fit it, on top of that consider if you want it actual size
and how heavy you want it, oh and if it abides by the weapon policy and stuff.
AND most importantly MONEY! Would you have money to finish/afford materials and the time to make it all.
You could assign a commissioner, meanlilkitty
is really great at large scale props/ props and accessories in general. I've seen positive reviews on her commissions yet I don't know her pricing. i've never Commissioned anythin off her before but I'm thinking of getting her to do my Millennium puzzle for me. By the looks of her prop photo's she's very professional.
Her profile account: http://www.cosplay.com/member/48850/
All her works
Some of her swords
Just had to add this in cos it's the maddest thing i've eva seen + it's Nightmare Before Christmas too ^0^
Yet if you want to make....
this is what I'd do:
: I'd use a half wooden spool, sand paper the hell out of it and after use modelling clay to shape the top of it, where the little gem sits. then after the clay has set I'd shape it more to match the ref. pic.
: I'd use that soft wood, I'm pretty sure it's called plywood( I don't really retain the types of wood I use-_-;someone please conferm this!) shape with sand paper ,
I know that it can be bought at Bunning's^-^;
the piece in the middle of the sward (soz. dunno what it's called)
: use plywood again, sand the hell out of that and shape including the ends.
with the engravings you could do a lot
1. etch it all out with an etch tool but it'll take a while
2. use WHITE hot glue (as white is much better then clear) and draw the shapes on
3. clay and stick them on individually.
personally I recommend the hot glue method( use engraving method on the sward too)
the gem on top: you could use resin, yet I haven found a place in Sydney that sells it yet. you could paint a foam ball instead~
the gems on the sward:
those plastic diamond gems are pretty good to use, if you want round smooth ones you could sand the (diamond cut ones) and lightly burn it with a lighter or match maybe. Stick to sword after you coloured it . It's important to patch the size up so that the size fits on the sward.
after everything I'd done, spray everything white (,you don't have too, this is what id do) and colour each part separate. attach the sward with (hot glue, nail glue, super glue blah blah blah what ever suits you really) and use coth/ a bandage for the top.
if you want the sward sheath. I don't really know much about sheath so maybe look around for threads about these.
(I haven't got that far into the series, and haven't seen the character yet and am going off the pictures in google so therefore the stuff above me it totally off the top of my head @w@ )
just look around the forums or post something in the construction section on here if you need some help. I'm sure that some one would be more then happy to help you out ^-^
