I am currently working on two cosplays, one of them being Impa from Ocarina of Time.
I am having a hard time figuring out what to do with the chest/breast plate. For now I am attempting to create the chest and stomach part out of craft foam that I've cut in order to bend at those crease areas to get the right shape. it looks alright, but it's not seamless, so far.
I'm thinking after I cover the seams with glue it'll look much better when I paint it silver... But I'm just not sure... I haven't found any advise on this particular outfit.
About the glue, What type of glue should I use to cover craft foam before painting? I've tried wood glue but It was really thick and took FOREVER to dry. It is old, however. I also tried Elmer's glue but it also took a long time. I got the impression that the glue used for this was a quickdry glue of some sort. The tutorials I've seen never said WHAT glue they used, however.
Then, for the shoes/boots things. Since those are sort of armor ish as well, should i perhaps make them out of foam as well? I was thinking wear some sort of simple sole underneath, such as cheap walmart 5 dollar flats, then attaching the foam armor pieces?
One thing I thought was interesting is that ALL the cosplays of Impa i've seen, they had a tight black top that covered their back and sides... But she doesn't have that, the only part that's black is the sort of underwear over the tights. One reason for this I'm thinking is because any sort of really simple armor is not gonna hold up boobs, and is not gonna work if you have small boobs (like me) So it appears they are wearing strapless bras underneath:
Gosh it's bugging me! I want to find some way I can hold them up without that black body suit. I want to be as accurate as possible!
Any thoughts or advice? This all seems so daunting and I'm totally new to cosplaying (for real that is, i've dinked around with some more intricate Halloween costumes before)
