A dilemma

Greetings, I'm new here(as you can see by my join date and post count) but I have been lurking for a couple days. I decided to join to ask this question:

I'm hoping to cosplay as my favorite Pokemon, Gardevoir (seen here http://img.pokemondb.net/artwork/gardevoir.jpg)
My question is, since this Pokemon is equally male and female, is it considered crossplay?
I'd have no problem if it is so, I'm just curious, since it is a perplexing dilemma.

Oh, and incase this means anything in the decision of crossplay-or not, I am going to construct a Gardevoir head, like a mascot/fur suit/foam head. Probably has no effect, but is worth noting. Oh, and I am a guy, just to remove any possible confusion.

Glad I joined this forum!

I don't know enough about Pokemon to have any idea what that Pokemon is all about, but it doesn't seem to be much of a dilemma to me, really. If the pokemon has no per-determined gender, then it's not really crossplaying. If the Pokemon is, as you said, 50/50, then I guess you're...50% crossplaying...if that's a "thing".

I have no idea...

I'd just cosplay said pokemon and leave the titles and categories at the door.

This one's a toughie lol o-o
Uhhh, most people view Gardevoir as a "female" even though there are male Gardevoirs in game. (And they view Gallade (?) as the male version of Gardevoir) But since in the Pokemon games Gardevoir can be male or female, I'd just consider this a regular cosplay.

Unless you're doing a Pokemon ginjinka where you're clearly dressing up as a female, then just dressing up as the pokemon itself would probably just be considered cosplay.

Hope that didn't sound too confusing lol @_@

Well, it depends on how you want to cosplay the Pokemon. Like...let say I'm going to cosplay Crona from Soul Eater, and I think it's a guy, I bind my chest and all, and it's a crossplay, but if I didn't bind myself and do all that other special stuff, it would be a girl! I think people don't quite care about more androgynous characters.
