Jackie Estacado: The Darkness
![]() So this cosplay has taken a lot of time and work to complete but my only question/problem is whether or not I should paint parts of the gloves, boots and mask a silver or grey color instead of the mix of dark blue and green that they are at the moment. Please excuse the poor quality of the pictures, the only way I could take pictures was with my phone. ![]() |

I would definitely paint it. It will look more like in a comic and also I think it will look much cooler, than when everything is green...Gr8 job by the way

Oh, wow! Your costume came out fantastic! I can't imagine how many hours of work that took. Good job!

While this is the critique forum, you asked a specific question, then showed the result after acting on answers. You didn't ask for overall critique, until now.
The paint job is amazing, the color variegation across the body overall is fantastic. The hair is too neat, but maybe it's just the reference picture you chose where he looks messy, I don't know this character at all. Characters like this are more than a little challenging because they are not proportioned like normal human beings, even a pro wrestler wouldn't quite 'be' the character because it's drawn so far from what is actually physically possible (giant shoulders, tiny waist; huge calves, tiny ankles), but not in a way where you look at the character and say 'oh, it's a comic'. People hesitate to critique the cosplays that fall into this category for that specific reason.

I didn't realize I had to ask for an overall critique in a critique forum, and I asked that question about the paint job in the beginning because I honestly wasn't sure if I should do it. I'm glad I did though.
Believe me the hair isn't neat at all, the photographer had to constantly come up and place the hair where she wanted just so she could get a pic of my face/mask. For those reasons I tried to make the cosplay fit me, I wasn't trying to look like a pro wrestler as my shoulders are no where near that big and my waist wouldn't get that small even with a corset. lol. |

Lol I was just at Ria's house looking at these photos! You did a bang up job. The green tone was only briefly used on Jacki's Darkness (mostly earlier works.) Personally I would've made the overall look of it more shadowy (black/grey) with green highlights. But overall I kept telling her how amazing both of you did! Kudos!

Hm, this is true. I could always repaint it but I'm rather partial to the green lol, and thanks
Overall I'm happy with how the whole thing turned out. |

A mix of fabric paint you can get at Wal-Mart or any craft store and acrylic paint.
