Aveline (Assassin's Creed) Wig? Braids?

I'll be cosplaying Aveline from Assassin's Creed III: Liberation in October, and her hair is giving me some trouble.

I'd originally planned on buying a plain straight wig and braiding it myself, so I could add the red ribbons that are woven into the braids... but since new screenshots have come out, I've found her hair has too many braids for that since the wefts would show and it would be a nightmare.

I've seen the Amphigory dreadlocked wig, but the strands aren't in the correct braided style I'm after, nevermind I wouldn't be able to add the tufts that Aveline has at the end of each braid.

So... any tips on how I could tackle this?

More extension honestly in the lower part of the wig. You can sill use you base wig just get matching extension to sew them in. These still look like tease braids to me.
