Cosplay-themed party for 18th birthday

This is a pretty random idea thats just popped into my head.

However, I'm tossing up the idea of having a cosplay themed party for my 18th birthday in a couple of months time. A smallish one, only basically having a few friends over in cosplay.

Only problem - three (of the 5) people I'm thinking of will not cosplay (or 99.99% sure they wont). What are peoples thoughts on the idea given that? Will this work?

I'd love for this to happen, but I'm a but iffy for that reason... :|

(sorry if I'm a bit OT, if a mod thinks this needs to be elsewhere please move the thread)

Call it a costume or masquerade party. Same thing, but different connotations in people's minds. I'm not sure how far out your party is, but if it's near Halloween, theme it to that, instead. People might be more willing to don costumes with that theme.

I am thinking of having a cosplay party for my 18th too! Though only two of my friends.. from school cosplay, rest of them live far away from me.

Agree completely. If more people think it's like halloween dress-up then they would be more keen. Also gives you and your Cosplay friends a chance to show off a little

I was actually thinking about having a Masquerade (COSPLAY) party for my Sweet 16! Just tell them that you would rather if they cosplay, but any old costume is accepted, you would just really rather they dress up.
