Cosplaying with braces

Normally my braces don't really bother me when I get my picture taken and I don't care if they don't match my outfit. But next year I plan to go to a con as Homura Akemi...and I always choose my braces colors to be pink and something else. Should I do something to hide my braces in a pic or change them to certain color to match?

I always think it's really cute when people match their braces to their cosplay! It's your decision, purple and black would look very cute

I have braces too but I get them off before the next con...

Do what you feel comfortable with because no one else really cares [or should care]. A lot of people have or had braces, it is just a phase in life. Smile if you want to with or without showing your teeth, color match or get white to blend in more. It is really up to you.

With traditional braces, it is not like you can just remove them at will when you are at a con. They also do not stop you from cosplaying or going to the convention so just make sure you have fun - there is no reason to be suddenly self-conscious about braces just because you put a costume on. Some of the same people in the outside world will be at a con. If you can handle wearing braces around them, it is really no different at a con in costume.

Well if you like to be in character, Homura doesn't really smile much anyway, so you can just hide your braces by not smiling. If not, it's really up to you. It's your business and your costume.

I just wouldn't worry about it. There's not really anything you can do about your braces. If you want to match it to your cosplay that's cool but not necessary. Like sooyong said, Homura isn't a smiler so being in-character would hide them. You can always do a closed-mouth smile (Mona Lisa smile) which is what I often do since I'm not very confident in my teeth.

Thanks everyone. You were all very helpful. I'll just change my braces to black and purple before the con.

I've been worried about this too. I haven't gotten the chance to cosplay yet, but I want to cosplay as Loki, so I guess I'll just get green braces, XD

We can be cosplay-braces buddies.
