Authentic Time Periods for each film/Disney Character

I was curious as to what the authentic time period was for each Disney film.

Cinderella was set in the 1600's but the Disney design doesn't seem to come from that era, so where are they pulling from?

Any and all help would be appreciated! I am just curious and want to learn the most about historical fashion combined with Disney!

tarinelove- With a lot of Disney films, they're actually drawing from the time during which the films were made, not the setting of the film.

For instance, Cinderella has heavy 1950's influences, as evidenced by her hairstyle, makeup, and pink dress. Briar Rose/Aurora is the same way, though she's moving a bit toward the 60's. Ariel, you can tell, has heavy 80's influence with the huge bangs and enormous sleeves.

I always like to take these sorts of things into consideration when designing my costumes!

It seems that each princess's signature dress is often (but not always) totally incongruous with the time period each film is apparently set in.

Cinderella's dress always struck me as a cross between mid 1700's and mid 1800's. Belle's yellow dress is 1860's. Aurora is medieval-ish. Ariel's pink dress is a little bit 1500's, a little bit Baroque, and a little bit Civil-War era. Snow white is mid 1500's or so...

Ariel's dress always look very 1980s prom to me... :P Actually, they all look more contemporary and fit in with the fashion of the decade they were made.
