Right now cloudy on Friday (good) and scattered showers on Satirday (not good)

Turns out I won't have my cosplay ready in time for the con. I'm a bit disappointed but what can I do? I might try and throw something together, but I'm not sure what yet.

Awww man. Well, I'll be coming as Lady Thor so I'll do everything within my power not to add a little thunder to the mix.

I really hope it doesn't rain. I really want the fountain for the photoshoot.

I'd like to do one as long as it's on a saturday and after my Marvel/DC photoshoot, which will be at around 12ish. Would that be alright with you?

I'd love to shoot! Looking to do a night shoot Friday or Saturday night as Tifa Lockhart from FFVII, and then on Saturday as Jun Kazama from Tekken Tag 2, with a Kazuya. PM me if you're interested.

Has anyone ever done the masquerade before? I'm doing it this year and I'm not super sure what to expect other than looking at some YouTube videos. Our costumes are kinda a pain in the ass to put on and once they are on they aren't exactly the most comfortable things in the world and we don't really want to wear them any longer than we have to. Any behind the scenes info/advice out there?

I've only been at the masquerade back when it was in SF, but for what it's worth:

There's a big room with tables/chairs behind the stage set up for all the contestants to dress/stash props/wait. Everyone needs to be in costume a bit (~an hour) before the start of the show for judges to come on and look them over and ask questions, then there are the official pictures. After that, it is show time! You can have to wait a while if you are at the end of the line depending on how many people compete.

For you first-timers, I also have a few recommendations;

1.) Bring plenty of cash. Lots of booths do not accept credit cards, and the ATMs in the convention center go empty usually within the first day. On that note, I don't want to sound like a nagging parent, but be sure to monitor your spending. It's easy to get excited when shopping at a con and just drop hundreds of dollars without even thinking. However, if you see something you just can't live without, and you've got the money to spare, then buy it immediately. There is no guarantee that it will be there after that day. (20 cons later I'm still telling myself this.)

2.) Convention food prices are insanely high. As a suggestion for eating at a con, bring snacks. I always use bar snacks that are easy to carry around and are somewhat healthy. Nature Valley are my favorites but dear GOD they make quite a mess with crumbs. Anyway, if you're low on sleep and eat lots of junk food, you won't have any energy to enjoy the convention, so make sure to eat when you can and eat smart.

3.) Make sure you don't forget any important chargers; cellphone, camera, handheld console, etc. Every convention I attend, I swear I always miss one of those. Last thing you want is your phone dying out on you, or not being able to take any pictures because your camera battery died out, or missing out on like a jillion million streetpasses.

That's all the stuff I can think of for now that hasn't already been said. Most important of all, make sure to enjoy the convention to your fullest!
