So Im an upperclassman at college and just trying to think of some easy ideas for a Halloween costume. Some of my ideas include: a simple Pikachu with my Pikachu fleece hat and make a fleece tail, a simple Korra cosplay with maybe just the hair tubes, navy blue sweat pants, brown fur boots, and light blue hoodie?

But Im kind of wanting to do a MLP costume. Instead of going for the full "pony" look, I was thinking more of a "human" look, since Ive seen several pictures of "human MLPs".

I was thinking, if Twilight Sparkle was a person, based on her talents and characteristics, she seems like she might be more of a witch than a "book worm" or "librarian" type person like Ive seen in pics. Cuz her strength is magic, and isnt that her "element" too? Also, witches are often depicted with books, and the color purple is usually incorporated somehow. And I think Twilight Sparkle has an owl right? Witches and owls go together great, (and not just saying that cuz of Harry Potter lol).

But anyway, Im kind of stuck with how I want the costume to look exactly. I was thinking a light purple skirt and top with maybe some black accent in there too for more of a witchy look. make some purple fleece ears and horn and sew them to a witch hat. Buy a Twilight Sparkle wig and maybe a tail if I can find one. And for a Cutie Mark, instead of on the hip, it could be a choker necklace?

Idk, what does anyone else think?

Anyway, it's probably more of an undertaking than you want but it might give you some ideas. Seeing her more of a witch/sorceress is an idea I like. Without more detail I can't picture it but I would say you could leave the tail off. Most people do and often I find it looks better. The other option would be making something to simulate a tail, like a belt or something.

I do like the choker/necklace idea. I actually have a necklace for Rarity that I got off etsy and a friend has a Twilight from the same store.

You could always just make yourself her Starswirl The Bearded costume. A cloak and hat plastered with stars and bells and a lame santa beard would work nicely if you can slip in the Twilight wig underneath XD

(Also her personality to me is very much scientist/librarian or overall seeker of knowledge. "Magic" in the ponyverse seems like it is something that's properly studied and researched. Zecora seems to be more witch (doctor) to me than Twilight would lol)

Im thinking more of a school girl look? But Im having trouble finding the right witch costume, pleated skirts, and tops....

Also, I decided it doesnt have to all be lavender, but Id like to incorporate it somehow since thats her color

Are you wearing anything else on top? Even if it's just some sort of cape/cloak, it doesn't even have to be terribly long. Maybe a capelet or a shawl. I just can't picture Twilight showing that much skin.

sorry the link doesnt work, its basically just a black pleated short skirt with tule underneath it. I thought about making real simple sleeves or something for arms, and on legs would be light purple stockings or tights. So the only skin showing would be shoulders/upper back
