I've only attended one con a year for 12 years. San Diego Comic Con was the only one close to me that I knew about. xP But next year I'll be going to ALA and to AX!

My area seems to have the problem of "too many cons." Last year my group hit eight. While it was fun, it was also exhausting in terms of effort and resources.

We went to half this year. With the time and money we saved, we've been able to plan more cosplays. It's been an excellent trade-off.

Ah, you US of A-ers and your close-to-each-other cities.

Technically, I went to two this year. There was Cos & Effect in Vancouver and just yesterday Geeks After Dark in Barkerville. I would like to go to both next year. Cos & Effect is about ten hours away and Barkerville is two (which means Barkerville's the cheapest one).

Where I live the closest conventions are ten hours away either direction. And, since it's more expensive to fly within Canada then to fly out, I definitely won't be heading to the ones across Provinces. I'd like to go to SakuraCon at some point but the cost would be insane, especially since Cos & Effect is at a University and thus has cheap, close accommodation. The one at Barkerville was super fun (not really a con but close enough) and I hope Geeks After Dark does it again

Typically, 2 a year, but sometimes as many as 4 (which doesn't seem like a lot, lol). I've never been to more than 4 a year though.

Always go to Raven Con, Balticon, and Capclave. Hitting other cons really depends on time, money, and interest. This year I also went to Worldcon since husband and I have family in the Midwest, and it's the big gathering con for Brotherhood Without Banners. Also going to AnimeUSA in November. Had plans to attend another con, but decided that replacing the windows was more important.

I could easily attend 20+ cons and not leave the area.

I hit all the local cons in my area so that would be two. It's nice they're space out by about six months so I have time save up and work on cosplays in between those two.

[/long story over]

How many cons do you go to and how much is too much in a year? I mean each con is basically the same plot, per se.
What you may want to consider is that many conventions are not anime-specific and take into account people who have been interested in science fiction, literature, fantasy, comic books, or fighting games. Moving on.

Now I am down to just 2 a year, Youmacon in which I sell in the Artist Alley and A-Cen in which it's a big vacation with Boyfriend and friends.

In the past I've attended somewhere around 4 a year, if I recall correctly...

Anime Expo once in I think 2007 or 2008
Megacon around 3 times from around 2008-2010
Oni-Con once in around 2009
A-Kon in 2009 again I believe
A-Cen in 2011 and 2012
and Youmacon in 2010-2012

Seriously. Here we could probably go to about 15+ if we really wanted to. I don't think I have the stamina, drive or time for that though. 8-10 seems...healthy?

I just got back in to conventions last winter, but Florida has a lot of cons! I go to three bigger cons a year, and then 2-3 smaller ones (one being at my college). For the one at my college and a few of the others close to my house I can just drive to the con during the day and not have to pay for a hotel, so that saves money. Of course it's a trade off since I have to get up earlier and can't stay at the con as late as I'd maybe like.

I go to 2 cons per year, Sakura-Con and Aki-Con. Both are local for me, so even though I get a hotel room with friends for Aki-Con, it still ends up being super cheap.

I want to go to more cons, though. D:

Usually 4 (Setsucon, Katsucon, Otakon, AnimeUSA). I could financially afford more, but I have a family to take care of.

This year I'm going to 4 cons total (which is the most since I've started going). I used to only go to one or two but it's gradually increased. My biggest issue is finding people to go with me to split the cost of room/driving. I'd love to go to 6 cons, buuuuttt I don't see that happening anytime soon >_<

I used to go to 5-6 smaller ones a year, but I'm getting tired of them so now I only go to 2-3 big ones a year and it's definitely worth it. Dragon*Con, SDCC and PAX East.
