Prohibited weapon?

Answer only if you know for sure.

My friend wants to bring an aluminum baseball bat for his cosplay, but is not sure if it falls under the category of "metal weapon" since it has no blade.

He really wants to have a prop for his cosplay without any trouble. Would he be able to bring it into the hotel/TCC?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: I'm sure you can carry it around outside as long as you're not flailing like a mad man but as for trying to bring it into the Dealer's room. No good.

there are foam bats you can buy at toy stores. i'd suggest painting one with acrylic paint as an alternative.

my lantern for my daniel cosplay last year was tagged and it was imitation metal. its a blunt object that can cause real damage.

This is what I would do.

Get a foam bat and paint it.

Use a layer of paper mache if needed. (going to be a crappy day tomorrow so get a hairdryer out)
