Red face Cosplay Help?

Hello, I'm a bit of a beginner at cosplay, and I was kinda hoping to look for some help with a cosplay. Anyone here, play or look up Space Channel 5? http://images.wikia.com/spacechannel...Sculala3_2.jpg

I was hoping to make her costume. What should I use to make the props, and how could I make the collar and skirt round?

My mom is gonna help me out with it too. I won't be able to use vinyl, because I've heard its expensive and hard to work with, so I'm gonna use satin or some other REALLY shiny material.

All help is appreciated, and thanks! ,

No shame in being a beginner! However, I would definitely recommend against using satin, especially if you're a beginner. Sarcasm-Hime's has a nicely summarized reason why (look under #3). For a costume like the one you want to do, I would recommend using knit fabric, because that way you can get it more form fitting. Not only would satin not before as form fitting, but I also don't think it would hang right for this particular costume.

As for props...well, I'm still learning those myself, so I can't help too much there. You could probably get away with crayola model magic for some of the smaller pieces. For her (looks like) jet packs, maybe get some foam from a hardware store and go that route. Definitely look up some prop tutorials first online and figure out a plan before you buy anything.
Planned Cosplays:
Mulan//blue outfit variant (Mulan)
Kid (Kaito Kid)
Blair (Soul Eater)
Kizuna (Pilot Candidate)
