Wig keeps turning grey when dying-help?

Hi guys. I'm trying to dye a blonde wig dark brown. I'm using a few squirts of Speedball brown ink with a few drops of FW black ink, to darken it. When I spray it on it looks great, but after it dries it ends up as a dark grey. This has happened even when I've put on three coats of the ink.
I'm using 70% alcohol as the solvent.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know what to do?

What's the speedball ink made from? It might be a problem of dyes that can't actually be mixed causing the colour problem. (And I've never heard of FW ink being able to mix with other ink colours, but I've only used prismacolours/sharpies/copics for dyeing my wigs, so I'm not that knowledgeable about FW.)

I would try using only FW ink, and try the higher concentration (91% alcohol) as well. I doubt the alcohol content makes as much a difference as the dye mix, though. That, and use more dye. Good luck!

The Speedball ink is acrylic, so I thought it'd mix with FW ink, which is also acrylic. But yeah, I'll try getting some brown FW ink. The art store is just so far away...

Try dyeing it with RIT - it should be easy to make it dark brown and RIT is available most places (Walmart, Meijer, Michaels, etc).

PM me and I can help you through it!
