I know that feeling. XD I love MLP, but man the fandom can get pretty bad. @_@ I have a friend who forces MLP into EVERY conversation, whether he's talking to a brony or not. He doesn't mean to be, but he's really obnoxious about it. And then I have a friend who hates MLP just to hate it. That is the only reason, and he'll admit it. So of course lunchtime is always fun when they're sitting together.

I agree, Hetalia, Homestuck and MLP is the worst right now (from what I seen on forums/tumblr and hear about from friends/classmates. I one of those people who try to judge a series by their fandom, because people said there's stupid people everywhere! For the longest time at school and online I was secret fan of Hetalia. O.o I like the series, because I love history <3 But some girl at my school kind of ruin it for me because she kept on following me around and calling me her "tomato" ._. It got weird after awhile. Good thing she was a senior.... I couldn't take another year of it. There two boys who were trying to make a bronies club at school, but the principle said no to them. xD

I want to cosplay Hetalia but I don't want to be part of a fandom that have immature people. But after reading you guys post, I'm going to take your advice and not let a few people stop me from cosplaying who I want. I think I'll wait awhile before doing any cosplay from Hetalia.

Hm, I think that the fandoms depend on the area/con you're going to. At Anime Detour, the biggest anime con in MN, I went to multiple Homestuck photoshoots- and everyone was so sweet! I wasn't even cosplaying Homestuck(I was doing fem!prussia), I was even by myself because my friends weren't interested, and just everyone was really nice, and mellow- there were no buckets and screaming of profanities.

That versus Anime Fusion, a brand new con this year, I think about half it's attendants were Homestuck, and while a lot were nice, there were a few younger ones that needed to take a chill pill, I'm guessing it was their first con and they weren't with their parents, so its easy to get carried away.

So I think it all depends on the con. Bigger, more established cons tend to have older attendants, while newer, smaller cons tend to draw in younger con-goers who are away from their parents for the first time.

I generally find Homestuck to be the most annoying. Nothing like getting glomped by people covered in paint. Please, please, please, have some self awareness. I know I'm tall and all, and thus can withstand your tacklehugs, but I really don't want paint on my cosplay. I also, and this isn't really a strike against the fandom itself, find homestuck to be very visually uninspiring. I've seen a *few* impressive homestuck cosplays, but generally it's a drab ocean of t-shirts, bodypaint, and horns.

Hetalia would be a second. I know it's relatively isolated incidents, but there have been some things done by the fandom in staggeringly bad taste.

MLP, well, actually doesn't bother me. It's got some immature members, like any other fandom, but the message they're about (friendship and tolerance) is a good one, and I think men getting into a "girls" show has done more for combating gender preconceptions and stereotypes than years and years of trying to get girls into "guy" things. I've also seen the fandom raise a lot of money for charity (things like children's hospitals), which is always an A+ in my book.

And while yes some people of our fandom are annoying and in your face but you shouldn't be throwing the brunt of your anger at the artists... they're just making art.

I won't do anything, actually. :P Cause I'm mature enough to be able to tolerate my dislike for the "bad" part of the fandom. I know they're just making art but I'm just saying how I find it annoying seeing people popping up as ponies :B

I think the most annoying ones are whatever little bitches have the nerve to tell Homestuck fans to stay away from anime conventions because Homestuck isn't anime--and then toddle off to gush over all the Avengers, MLP, Dr. Who, Batman, Star Wars, Disney and Once-ler cosplayers at the exact same cons.

I just remember how annoying the fans used to be and how a lot of horror stories start with 'they were wearing naruto headbands'

... I hope it's not that bad anymore, there's certainly enough other fandoms that are considered annoying now, hopefully people don't snub me for cosplaying it at the very least.

As for the others, I don't care for Homestuck but I've never personally seen them being annoying. Pretty much same for Hetalia, and since my sis and cousin are huge bronies I go to brony con and the people there were nothing but respectful to me personally.

In some cases, maybe it's just the huge numbers people see them in that makes it more annoying than if one or two were getting out of hand. Dunno.

But I agree, I can't stand people who bitch about one fandom not being allowed somewhere then are ok with other things cuz they "like" those things. I mean I'm no huge fan of Homestuck, but I don't think it's fair to force out ANYONE from a con because it's supposed to be "anime only" it's stupid... and makes people look like assholes.

This. The reason why so many people hate homestuck is because it's so huge - in any fandom, 1 out every, let's say, 10 fans is a bad apple. There are THOUSANDS of homestucks, which adds up to HUNDREDS of homestuck bad apples. And then most of the minor fandoms only have hundreds. It's very easy to hate such a large group of people.
