Butterfree Wing Help

So, I want to make wings for my Butterfree cosplay for 2013. I've read up on a few different ways to make wings on cosplaytutorial.com, but I don't know which one would work best. I saw a YT tutorial using cellophane and cardboard/wire. I don't really want to use nylon...and I don't really like the wrinkly look the cellophane makes because Butterfree's wings are smooth. Anyone have any ideas on construction/materials?

I know you don't want to use nylon, but it's cheap and I've made butterfly wings with nylon stockings and thin wire. It's the best method I've used so far, and they look fantastic when finished.
Here's the best tutorial I've found-- (0:00 - 6:11)

A tip while painting- Use a LOT of paint if you want hard edges on the design. It's difficult to paint on nylon.

If this isn't what you want, I hope you do find something. Good luck!

Here's a fabric wing tutorial. You could probably substitute organza for some other lightweight material and paint the black parts.

Thanks for the responses! I did a general search of the forums before posting a new thread, and a lot of the links were either broken or didn't exist anymore. This is much more helpful. I've tried painting nylon before and it was a disaster, but I think I can give it another shot, or use fabric. I'll most likely try a few methods and then pick which one I like best.
