Momiji's cast

I am trying to figure out the best way to make her cast.
Heres a photo of the character:
Momiji from Binobogami Ga!
http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__...%21_Momiji.jpg

Ive seen a lot of ways online to make fake casts but I was wondering if theres a way to have it easly removable. Ive seen some that have velcro going down the middle. Is there a way to have it almost like a glove or an arm warmer that can be taken off like so without velcro ruining the look?

ummm personally i would make a bulk papermachee of your hand. so youd cover your hand with a few layers of newspaper and glue. let it dry, and then peel / cut it off (id suggest to ball your fist for that so you don't have to worry about fingers) then once that's off just wrap, dont even need to glue newpaper on. once you get it to the thickness you want, add one more layer of glue papermachee to seal / harden it a little.

to get the cast look / texture, use plaster bandages.

things are real cheap and probably only need one roll (CAREFUL!! these get really, really heavy when you start adding lots of layers.)
P.S. try and drain as much water from the bandages as you can, it just helps dry faster.

after that its up to you if you want to
1. remove the newspaper and line it with foam and a wooden dowel as a handle so its a slip on / off
2. keep the news paper, drill a hole to insert the dowel and just seal it up.
3. what ever else you can think of~

oh also, if you want to you could cut it in half and add buckles. but i personally think the slip on / off idea works the best
good luck and cosplay on~!

layers of papermachee. you only need to glue the first layer to get the mold of your arm (ball your fist) then when you take it off, just wrap and tape more newpaper around it till you get to the size you like. Do a few more layers of papermachee so its decently strong, and then cover it in plaster bandages.

one layer should work good, two for more strength, but the more you add the heavier it gets.
once the plaster dries, you can
1) cut out the newspaper , and insert a foam lining with a wooden dowl to hold onto the cast with.
2) cut out newpaper and insert foam and add buckles on the inside of it.

personally i would do 1, but thats just me

good luck~!

u can use velcro and not have it show. u just have to make part of the cast overlap onto the other side. but this all really depends on what material u are making the cast out of...
