URGENT - Still looking for steampunk entries for Sunday Fashion Show!

Hey everybody!

The Anime North fashion show still needs people for the steampunk section!

The fashion show will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, May 26 in the Doubletree.

Also, if you're already a panelist, doing the fashion show will count as credit towards your panel hours.

I'm the group leader for the steampunk section, so if you've got an outfit you'd like to show off, please PM me with your REAL given name (not your coscom screen name) and your email address no later than Friday, May 17.

In case you're wondering what to expect, here's a video of last year's fashion show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRq4wk5oE5M

Thanks, and hope to see you there!

Hey, I was in your event last year, but I'm looking on the AN page and there's nothing about the fashion show?

Hi Moonmisery,

This video from AN's YouTube page talks a bit about the fashion show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLR5FJXeXug

Unfortunately the web page with this year's info doesn't seem to be up yet...last year's page is still available though, and I think things should be pretty similar (here it is for reference: http://animenorth.com/live/index.php...2&I temid=157)

Are you interested in participating again this year? If so, shoot me a PM with your name and email address

I think my two steampunk costumes might be a little 'out there' to count. One of them has a big arm cannon attached to a mechanical backpack, and they both have hints of fashions from different eras (1700's, 1920's, all kinds of things), and don't stick to traditions. In fact, while they're still mostly steampunk, they've evolved into something closer to a combination of classic sci-fi and old-fashioned steampunk.

Plus I can't imagine how I'd convince my 6'1" fiance to strut out onto stage all sassy-like in front of an audience.

So is being 'mostly steampunk' still considered okay to be in this fashion show?

You had me at "big arm cannon attached to a mechanical backpack"

'Mostly' steampunk is definitely okay - we won't have the steampunk police backstage doing a headcount on the number of gears or brass findings you have

In all seriousness, that sounds like a really cool ensemble and it would be great if you show it off! 'Steampunk' is a fairly broad aesthetic to begin with and I have heard of people incorporating different eras into their costumes. I think it would be neat to have something with a little 1700s flavour - it would show people a different side than they're maybe used to seeing

Well I'm still in the finishing stages of the costumes, as collectively they're only 75% completed. Plus, I haven't run this by the one actually sporting the cannon/backpack (aka fiance), but I'll PM you anyway with the required info. As long as our ride home doesn't insist on leaving before 4:00 pm on Sunday, I'm sure we'll have no problem participating.

Actually, I don't think there are any gears at all on our costumes. Just bronze/gold piping, a few gauges, tubes, dazzly lights, miscellaneous odds and ends, combined with old-fashioned clothing ensembles, hand-made goggles...yeah, pretty much everything but gears.
