I've never been to a convention before, and I don't want to just burst through the door, all decked out in cosplay for my first time. I'd be wondering around like an idiot and possibly ruining my cosplay in the process.
So I've been doing some research and I learned that I could volunteer at a con and even get refunded if I help out enough! This seems like the perfect opportunity for me to learn about what goes on at a convention. I very much enjoy being in the background and within the inner-workings anyway. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'd like to know more about the option! -And if I decide I like it, I'd love to apply as a staff member for cons in the future. |

I have never volunteered either, but would love to hear from other people about it too. I have always wondered about it

My first con I volunteered for. Most of the cons I've been to I've been a volunteer for. It is definitely a great experience. You get to enjoy the con, usually without having to pay for a badge beforehand (this varies by con, depending on if they've had too many no-shows in the past), plus you can make a lot of con buddies who are also volunteers. It's definitely a great way to step into the con world if you're nervous.
